Hail Hitler

First off, I'd like to say that if you are from either race or religion, I apologise if this is offencive to you, I'm asking because it is the base of my English Assignment.
Is it more offensive to say the term "Hail Hitler!" to a Jewish person, or a German Person?
I know you can get jailed for up to XX years for saying Hail hitler in parts of germany. But who do you think would be more offended and why?
I actualy think Germans would be more offended, because it is there culture and there herritidge that is demeined.

 

Germany has lots of nationalist, they wouldn´t mind, some of them even look up to Hitler as a hero.

 

Well, I think that the Jews who had their fathers cooked in the oven, their sisters eaten by dogs and mothers raped would feel more offended than the Germans who are sorry for their elderly relatives actions.

But definitely a Jew would be more offended then a German in my opinion,
Hitler doesn't represent all Germans.

 

A modern Day Jew doesnt feel that pain.
Im mainly referring to Lets say a 30 Year Old german, and a 30 year Old Jewish person, who was never exposed to any of that.

Jewish people hold it to heart. You don't have to be there to know what it was like. Are you seriously under the impression that those who don't experience war, exile and the like cannot possibly empathise for those who have suffered? You miss the point of the Holocaust, the message it brings, the suffering of not just Jewish people but gays, gypsys and so on. I'm horrified to think that there are still people who make a mockery of such a thing. It may not sound like it to you. But to those who it has a more direct impact on, I certainly feel frustration. I can't believe your teacher has a job. I wouldn't be surprised if they encourage the fact that the Holocaust never existed. Plenty of people still do.

Shame on those who mock such a horrific and sad time in history.

And Malakadang, you may think what you said was smart, but you've just proven people still take such an event in history as a joke. The way you said what you did.. wow.. you make me sick.

Well, I think a jewish person would be much more offended.
But I think that they paid off, Israel is much more worse than a nazy country... so I think that if you said that to a Palestinian so much, he would be so pleased

 

Some would have relatives that perished in the Holocaust, as to Germans, some would have fathers that butchered the Jewish. If you really want to say they haven't been exposed to 'any of that' then your really talking about 2 or 3 Jews that have lived under a rock since the Holocaust, Germans too. Grandparents love telling stories.

Also, it would most certainly hurt them, just not in a physical way. What happened to the Germans? They had an extremely charismatic leader capable of rallying the country to support his agenda. They lost, and had some land among other things taken away. What happened to the Jews? 6 million of them died in unimaginable cruel ways. Imagine if 1/3 of your relatives perished due to an event in the past? You wouldn't feel even a tinge of resent and hurt when the topic comes up? There are approximately 12~ Million Jews today. 6 Million Jews died in the Holocaust. That's half the present Jewish Population, and a third net.

The Holocaust happened only 70 years ago, look at the Rwanda genocide, a partial contributory factor was a battle I believe taken place 400 years ago!

 

Please explain how "Israel is much more worse than a nazy country". How much do you know about Israel?
