Post Count/Join Date for posting links.

Well I am getting tired of kids making brand new accounts to come and spam the forums with phishers and malicious links. Yes, all experienced members know the links are bad, but I think something should be done to prevent some of the newer less experienced members from clicking these links if we haven't had the chance to warn them yet.

He has a June 2011 join date, obviously created his account just to post this link. 4 Post Count at time of posting it, and I didn't check but I'm sure the other 3 posts were something similar.

Solution:
Make it so you must have been a registered member for at least 5 days/1 week before posting links. This isn't a permanent solution, but it will certainly slow down the amount of malicious links posted on fresh accounts. Any other ideas, please post them, but I think this is the simplest and easiest to implement as of right now.

Dont like the post count idea, wouldn't it just crate more spam? with people trying to push to 25 posts?

 

Agreed. The whole post count idea would just create noobs spamming.

I personally don't think join date will do anything, especially if it gets implemented now.

 

Yeah the post count would increase spam, didn't think of that, but I see no problem with the join date. I think you shouldn't be able to post links without being a member for at least a week...

 

I honestly don't think this is necessary. Plus, it would just be a hassle. A week wouldn't be nearly long enough to keep away malicious links, and making it long enough to deal with the issue would infringe the rights of legitimate users. Just use common sense, maybe there could be a sticky created to inform users not to click on any unfamiliar links.
