Mithril armour is a purple armour http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Mithril_equipment. You could do the "Recruitment Drive" quest in order to wear initiate armour http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Initiate_armour. Or just train your stats as high as you can use better armour/weapons.
