Revamping Le Kingdoms

For the users who have played Kingdoms in the past or are still playing Kingdoms. I am looking for input on how to improve the game experience. All suggestions are welcome and will be discussed within the technical core.

Anyways, I've been thinking about Kingdoms and I thought a complete rewrite should be in order. I also thought about whether or not it would be worth it. It already has an extremely limited appeal, but the way some functions work makes it silly.

One trading post is the best situation if you plan on selling.

0 weapons is REALLY GREAT if you plan on just being a defensive powerhouse that no one can take down.

No way to get rid of said weapons so once you get weapons, you cannot go back to a defensive state.

!----all functions need to be rewritten as some of them don't ever work as they ask for over the max amount of X

Autoannex is slow

Game is too rough for new players to play without getting destroyed

War Machines are necessary for combat.

Banks are a joke.

Attack then shield for 1 turn is broken (if this is still a thing, I wasn't able to shield myself).

Other stuff I'm forgetting atm.

 

@Alex_J_Leon Have you seen the development branch? It's already a lot better than it was.

I'll see what I can do about the limit. Keep posting stuff for us to fix.

 

The only way to make money was to sell all soldiers before the turn ended, exposing yourself.
if you start by building the wrong things you can literally be stuck forever

Honestly I was about to keep going but I'd just scratch it and start anew.

 

There is a command !raze which allows you to destroy buildings. It isn't documented though

 

Can I suggest we focus the tech core's attention elsewhere?

I don't think this game would generate any income/traffic for sythe, Just my 2 cents though if the tech core feels otherwise by all means just delete this and continue trying to revamp it.

 

What would you like us to focus on? Our mission is to do what the community wants but we can't figure that out on our own. If you have ideas or suggestions for what you want us to work on please just reach out to any of us or make a suggestions thread and we'll take a look.

 

I don't think the tech core should be focused on a very old and very dead game.

How about the tech core comes up with a way to track sythe banners clicks/imps/etc? I know that's a weird one but I feel like it could be extremely useful, nobody has any real stats.


How about the tech core starts browsing rune-server and stuff looking for a RSPS source/base to build a RSPS from? U can host it from home and login it and test them.


Idk, just throwing ideas out.

 

Just looked into it. I cannot tell if there are any differences in the commands, other than each one being split up into a different file.

It might be useful to track the age of the specific Kingdom as another variable for formulas.

But again, I still don't think people are stoked for this game.

 

Yes I mainly did some refactoring. The age of the kingdom is already available as a variable. You don't need to worry about the technical details at all.

@Bus369 It's not like the whole team is going to focus on revamping this game. This is just a little side project. Please use this thread for content suggestions only. If you have a great new idea then just make a suggestion thread or contact one of the team members.
