[DENIED] Pm Confirmation

Two parts

1. Suggesting a sticky be made to address how to properly send a confirmation pm.
-EDIT: Found this but its in a secluded area, Verify the user you are speaking with before trading! so suggesting it get moved, perhaps to the report a scammer section?
2. Users be liable to repay in the event that a user gets scammed from an improper pm confirmation.
- Could be wrong, but if I recall, a user isn't liable to repay if a user is scammed as a result of a bad confirmation pm(double imposter scams)

 

Video has occasionally made people pay the amount scammed if they've sent a bad pm. @video How does this work is it only for repeat offenders?

 

A improper PM will get a user TWC'd, I do however recall that multi-offenders of sending bad PM's could be potentially held liable, that is is not a written rule and sits on a case-by-case basis, I haven't seen that happen probably in years now through.

After someone gets a TWC for a bad PM that typically resolves the issue, I'm a little curious as to why this is being brought up because its been ages since I've seen a multi-bad PM offender continuously commit the offence of sending a bad PM.

In the past TWC's were not issued for bad PM's, people were just "Strongly advised" to send better PM's in the future, to my knowledge issuing TWC's for sending bad PM's has almost completely removed the issue of sending a bad PM more than once, if someone could reference a legitimate case within the past year+ I would be surprised where someone send a bad pm, got a twc and then sent another bad PM after getting their twc off.

I don't see this as an issue, if there is a case of this happening recently its so rare that this is not needed.

I believe the last time I "made someone pay the amount scammed" it was something like they had the option to pay the amount or take the TwC and they opted to just reimburse the victim. In almost all cases it is just a TwC

 

Divine basically covered it all. Since being here, I have only seen 1 person get a TWC for sending improper confirmation messages.

 

I think sending bad pmd should be cause for a short term ban and owing the victim. You are then part of the reason they are getting scammed. Even when I started here I asked how to properly go about trading, if you don’t look into the safest way to do things you’re just lazy.

 

Brought up since ive had people, notably a $200+ donor send me bad confirmation pms which easily couldve been exploited into instances of users being scammed.

 

I think the TWC is fine as a punishment alone. I do recall specifically at least once someone had to pay out but I cbf finding the report. Handling these case by case is fine as it happens only once in a while.

I do support moving/adding copies of the sticky in other sections/areas because in the small handful of bad PM cases over the last several months, I remember some of the sythe users saying something a long the lines of "it isnt said anywhere." Also it might help get more sythe users to follow the template which makes it crystal clear. It is mentioned in the thread the OP linked, and I think Chloe mentions it in the rs gold sections but thats it.

 

+1 definitely needs to moved to a different section. Most market sections should have it imo

 

Agree w @Teeto in saying it should be in most market sections, but if you don't think you are talking to the REAL person you probably aren't for christ sake. Pay attention to the names given to you in pms and don't trust people you shouldn't be trusting. No support.

This is actively being moderated, and users are punished for poor PM'S that lead to a scam happening. This falls under poor trading practices.
