i know that orbs are sooo old but its the only thing i can make in photoshop so there it is..

please tell me if there is anything i should add..
i know the edges are a bit rough but anti alias wasnt working for some reason

 

I think that the edges are the only thing that make it not look the best but other then that its good. Try to make the earth behind it move visible because I think it would be a good focal point. (along with the V lol)

 

the edges are too sharp, The planet earth render is too dark, and the bevel too obvious... try soften it a little.

ill probably make a completely new avatar anyway..
maybe try make something other than an orb.
