Im sure the gruesome title has lured you in, but that is not why I want to show this video. This is of course the video of Thích Quảng Đức, I was sceptical of buddhist meditation at first but after reading the story of this monk many years back it took me back a couple steps. Although I am not a religious man this is a true feat.

That's crazy.
Aren't there a group of monks that set themselves on fire when danger is near?

Like they use that as a defense mechanism.

I heard about it before, but forgot the name.

 

Plenty of monks lit themselves on fire in the middle of Indias streets for protest.

It's part of the Buddhist religion ( These monks are Buddhist ) that they will be reincarnated, so this isn't a big deal to him what so ever.

They spend their entire lifes, dedicating themselves, and controlling themselves. Notice he didn't lash out in pain even once?

He can control himself perfectly, to every extent. To him, its just another day, and tomorrow, he'll be reborn and start again.

The Buddhist religion is fascinating, I'd really like to study it some TBH.
