gf private servers..

Well jagex defiantly knows they fucked their game up, and must not want others to enjoy the game in any other way.

 

They really have ruined the game. I've been pretty excited about the servers, and then annoyed about them getting shut down.

The current game, RSHD, is so different from RS2, I think a decent argument could be made for an 06 style or "classic" RS2 game to be available on the official RS website in the same way that Jagex has kept RSC around. If this were done, the private server remakes of RS in 06 would no longer have a reason to exist, and the official version on Jagex's RS website would surely require buying membership, so they wouldn't be losing money anymore so I don't see why they wouldn't do it.

Unfortunately, I remember when RSC was shut down "for good," again, the official post about it mentioned they want to focus on the latest game content and want players to focus on that too, or something along those lines.

But, the popularity of the servers is proof that there are many old school RS2 players who would love to jump right back in if Jagex would make such a thing available. Because they seem ready to spend money on taking the private server issues to court, I don't see why they wouldn't make something like this available in order to not only eliminate the issue, but also earn them a steady flow of cash...

Maybe I'm wishing for too much.

 

That would be a great idea for Jagex to do this!! If they allowed members whose accounts played before 06' to play on the rs2 separate game... I would actually pay to be a member again to fuck around in the old rs..

 

Most people on private servers are veterans, most of which have been around since RSC. They've supported Jagex for years, now they're just backstabbing us, first with eoc and now ruining private servers. If Jagex thinks that this is gonna make people wanna come back, then..

 

If nobody has noticed, jagex actually made a server called 2006scape, but they've had to close it down purely because of the amount of people that migrated to that server instead of rs2, and it made a large difference. What I don't like is that they kept all the donations that were made towards running the server, which is just pure wrong when you take a large amount and then just close it down because it's making another branch which is more popular lose cash. If they'd have played it smart, they could have got more old players back, and it would have drawn the attention away from the private servers getting shut down as they would always have had that alternative.

 

Err... I'm fairly certain Jagex didn't develop 2006scape. And even if it did take people from rs2 to 2006scape, I highly doubt that would be cause to close down the project, business is business. A smart company would take customers in any form possible.

IDB do you have a source that Jagex created 2006scape? I'm skeptical myself.

What's particularly funny is that Jagex has turned a blind eye to private servers for years, but now they're actually fearful that the private servers are taking their players. And they should be. Jagex's latest product is some twisted combination of the worst aspects of WoW, Runescape, and some other MMOs. They must be making bank off of Squeal to justify alienating their fanbase so greatly

 

Hopefully the fact that they are realizing that they are losing players may encourage them to re-release 06 style rs...

 

Started playing after like a 2 year break... its amazing how far less players are on compared to the past. You think jagex would do what the people want for once

 

It seems as Jagex really doesn't care and all they have to say is that the new RS is revolutionized and better when in fact it's a piece of crap. Is quite obvious that they are just trying to mimick games like WoW and it's becoming pathetic. They need to realize it before the game goes farther down the shitter.

I think that's a really good compromise, at least something from 05-06. It might encourage me to start playing more as well.

 

Maybe there's enough people like us to get Jagex's attention?

Private servers will still gain popularity just due to the fact people like playing something different where the community is different. I ain't a fan of them as they are all run by power crazy teenagers who think they are something special but I guess there are some pretty cool owners out there I just haven't played on one where there is. I haven't played RuneScape in like 3 years only done a handful of quick RSGP merching but that's about it.

I wouldn't mind jumping on the new servers but my account hasn't been member for years and I don't feel like buying members just to play a server so we will see.

 

Why isn't SoulSplit closed yet then?
