Hacked?

So I swapped an account on here about a year ago, and I've turned the account into an absolute beast.

Long story short. I'm about 100% positive that they have recovered it. However, wouldn't they have to get through my authenticator, registered email address, and other things? I don't quit understand how I got literally no pings or anything from Jagex that this account was being recovered.

The registered email must have been changed in the past 3 hours, because it now I'm not getting the password recovery emails.

Wouldn't someone have to know my email address, and everything to do this?

Or if the original owner of the account recovers it, does Jagex just do a clean wipe of the account? And send nothing to the previous persons email?

Either way, I'm not as bittersweet as I thought I'd be. I'm actually pretty calm about it. I had the full protection on there, granted that I knew it was possible for it to be recovered. I guess the only thing that gets me is Jagex didn't send me anything about it. At all, and I got no emails to my registered email about anything, and that's where it's all supposed to go through.

 

Even with the authenticator on the account, all they have to do is change the registered email to theirs (via Jagex customer support), then disable it from their own email. It offers no protection. Jagex doesn't notify you of anything since you aren't the original owner.

 

So that's basically it then. Well. My only wish is that I had transferred the wealth of the account. 1 year later though. Was hoping the guy has forgotten.

 

Thats why you shouldn't swap accounts and then train on it. Often they are just waiting for you to do work on it and leave wealth before they recover. And why should jagex inform the person that took someones account that it has been recovered?

Either way, sorry for your loss. If you traded your account, u can file a dispute here and probably recover yours as well.

 

Yeah, I mean you're right. Theoretically they shouldn't tell me. But I've had access to the account for a year, talked to the guy regularly, seemed like a swell guy. Honestly until today, I would have bet hundreds of dollars this guy wouldn't have done this. But I would be short hundreds of dollars. As for recovering my own account. I find it unlikely. I've actually moved from where I created it, as it was made in like 2003. We will see though.

Like I say, I'm not here to complain or say that jagex didn't do their jobs correctly. Was just curious about their recovery system.

Unfortunately you can ALWAYS recover an account.

It's not particularly hard to do either :/

My best advice is to only deal with trusted people on Sythe, or dont trade accounts. It's always a risk for the buyer.
