Brand new 360 game scratched by xbox...

So yea, I just bought fifa 12 and about 2 weeks after having it my friend tripped on my cable and now the game only loads to a certain point..

Any way of fixing?

I SHOULD OF EDITED THIS A WHILE AGO. EVERYONE THAT HAS A DISK THAT WON'T FULLY LOAD AND IS SCRATCHED ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GET ANOTHER WORKING COPY OF THAT GAME FROM SAY YOUR FRIEND AND SAVE THEIR GAME TO YOUR HARDDRIVE!!!!!!!!!!! BAM NOW MY BROKEN DISKS WORKS PERFECTLY

 

There are a few methods of fixing scratched disks, one is filling it with toothpaste, which I have never tried but according to a lot of people it works.

However you probably should've tried returning the disk when it first happened, if you got it from somewhere like gamestop or walmart they most likely would have given you a new one.

Thanks for posting the video, sort of interesting. Think I have heard of this before but never really considered doing it. There is one old disk that I don't care about - I might try it who knows

 

spit it on and use a cotton shirt, wipe in an outward motion.

It won't do too much good. A similar thing happened to me when I bought NFS: Carbon about 4 years ago, when my shelf collapsed under my 360 and I heard a very loud whirring noise of the disc being scratched. I tried to use all sorts of toothpastes and chemicals to fix the scratches, which just barely did any good. In the end, I think I managed to download the game to my hard drive, but depending on how deep the scratches are, it may not work. Your best bet is to call up where you got it and ask for a replacement, even if it is user mishandling. Sometimes they'll give you a new one as a sign of good faith/wanting you to come back to them again. Good luck.

If he still has the receipt, somewhere like gamestop or walmart is sure to take it back still.

 

If you got a buddy with it just install his disc to your HDD and then yours should work on the Xbox.

 

This. I should of updated this thread. Honestly how do people not know of this??? I've searched all over the internet and found only a couple of people telling me to do this. It worked instantly!!

 

If they don't take it back, you can always just ask for them to try and repair the disk for you. It depends how scratched it is though. In some cases you're better off just re-buying the game, although I know this can be costly and annoying to people.

 

Yea, I know at some game places they have a buffer to fix scratches, otherwise you'll be buying a new game.

 

No, there is a 100% fix that has been posted. All I had to do was borrow / rent the same game and save it on my hard drive. Now my broken disks loads perfectly.

 

After I posted on this thread i went to The Warehouse for new headphones and noticed they sell disk fixing kits for around $5. Unlike a buffer it fills up the hole so I'm assuming it might work for next gen console disks.
