Subject being Tachyons.
Pretty basic physics, but I find this rather interesting.
A brief run down of what a tachyon is in my own words;

An elementary particle that travels faster than light, in theory.
They are present in Quantum Field Theory and String Theory.
Pretty much the basis behind it, in a 'visual' sense, is that due to its speed, if you sent a 'tachyonic beam' to a destination, it would arrive there before you sent it.
This is obviously on the assumption that in Special Relativity, as you approach the Speed of Light (C), time slows down (Light is the constant). Once you reach C, time does not exist; time is still. Therefore surpassing C would in turn, rewind time.
As tachyons are constrained to the space-like portion of the energy-momentum graph, they pretty much remain at a C+ speed and therefore will always be traveling backwards in time.

Imagine if we found these particles to be truth only by finding the particles themselves.. This would mean that, in my opinion, we are living on a timeline where everything happens at every point in time and everything is predestined to occur for it has already happened (hence finding tachyons -> impossible to obtain them in still form or slower than C form, therefore the future has occurred because they are present in our time).

If you have any questions due to confusion or find that I am mistaken in something other than MY OPINION, feel free to discuss it with the rest of us.

In addition, in no way am I saying that religion, by finding tachyons, is proven to be false.

Personally i don't believe in tachyons as what you said if you go faster than the speed of light time will go backwards and you cant be able to find them.

Right, by his own proposition they're illogical. So the only thing left to look at is any actual evidence. The scientific method is all about empiricism, hence asking for evidence.

Theoretically it sounds practical, based on current laws. Although no experimental evidence has been found regarding tachyons, simply because they do not exist. (yet)

Well you wrong there is a possibility the is, but we cant prove it as we can sense anything faster than the speed of light.

That's basically saying there could be pixies and fairies all over the world, you're wrong because we can't prove they exist because we can't identify or sense them.

If they don't exist, they never will. If they do exist, they always have.

When a particle or matter reaches C, time is still. Time is NOT super slow. Time has stopped. When you surpass C, time therefore must travel backwards. This is an accepted idea and not the matter of discussion.

With your experimental evidence, we can bring Gravitons into this argument if you wish.. No physical evidence forming Gravity has been found. Only experiments and equations showing how it works. Therefore, going by your theory of how things are shown to exist, are you saying gravity does not exist?

Experimental evidence cannot be shown, though the idea of Tachyons is a widely accepted theory in String Theory and Quantum Field Theory. String Theory is one of the most accepted theories regarding the universe and how it works. Tachyons are part of that theory. You cannot accept part of a theory and deny the rest, for the theory itself relies on each individual aspect of the idea for it to work.

In saying this, I posted this to enlighten people on the possibilities of Tachyonic existence and to get a discussion happening regarding each persons views.

That doesn't make me wrong. By saying this, you deny the idea of String and Quantum Field Theory therefore not disproving me, but disproving those theories mentioned.

FYI, Mass cannot travel faster than light. Something without a mass, or negative mass, by all means, can. The reason MASS cannot, is because as you approach C, your mass multiplies (this multiplier depends on your speed, acceleration, etc) and therefore the force required to keep you accelerating must also increase by the same multiplier as your mass. This being impossible, the only way mass could reach such speeds is by having an infinite mass and an infinite force. - Refer to Theory of Relativity.

If you do not have a mass, you cannot get heavier for the multiplier would be [*0 mass] equaling a final value of 0.

You posed a notion of lack of evidence for the Tachyons being Elementary Particles. That is what they are considered to be, in tachyon theories, aka. String, Quantum Field, Relativity. I don't know if you need QUOTED proof of this. I'm saying that IF THEY EXIST, THAT'S WHAT TYPE OF PARTICLE THEY MUST BE in order for the theories to work, for it holds certain properties, in theory, relating to the properties of certain types of particles.

Well the notion is contradictory to ordinary logical analysis. You admit the contradictory nature of the theory at the outset. Obviously you realize can't have something which inverts causality and still reason logically about it? Causality is at the very root of reason. If this premise were overturned then very concept of premise would fail to be. Think about it...

So there is nothing to be said on the matter except what you've already said. Logic apparently does not apply.

So all that's left you is empiricism. I guess we'll just wait for evidence?

I expect we'll be waiting a long time.

Nevertheless, the idea of tachyon existence, in my opinion, is extraordinary and I would love to see the theory behind it be resolved and turned fact or fiction.

End of discussion, I assume? I'm not aware of the conventional protocol that's to be taken at this point..
