So, I'm working on a small 'guest book' like script. It uses Ajax and PHP so there's no refreshing of pages in order to submit and view, so users don't have to open a new window or tab.

Basicly; you click on a particular point, if it has been 'signed' you can view the message, date/time etc. If it is free, you get a small form on which you can input your info (Name, email/website and message).

From there, it generates a colour based on the octets of your IP, and converts it to normal HTML-HEX, and marks your spot on the 'guest book'.

It still has a way to go before it's completed, but the core is there.

I'm asking for any ideas/thoughts and whatever else that could make it better.

Apart from giving it a nicer look (coming later) does anyone have any ideas?

I only have about a BILLION ideas...

Well... you could add a small magnifying window (just like the SCAR color picker thingy) on the window hover event, for easier pixel selection.
Or perhaps a zoom-in and zoom-out button (with pairing magnification percentage) and a little "map" with a red square to drag your view around (like photoshop)

And maybe something similar to jquery's transfer effect: http://docs.jquery.com/UI/Effects/Transfer
so when you click on a pixel it appears to "open" and revealed the signed info.

Allow for IPs to edit their data.

Use IP tracing to get country and local info of IPs... then use that info to do something... for instance, have an option to connect all dots that are from the same region, or country, or something... :/

On the hover event, remove the visible cursor and just make it a moving pixel on the selection box. It'll probably have to be a pixel that inverts the colors it's hovering over.

Those are my simple ideas... and I'll just leave it at that. My other ideas are on the brink of bending space and time itself... the world isn't ready for it yet.
