Photo Manipulation - First Try

Followed a small tutorial on photo manipulation, all of the outlines and highlights were done with a mouse btw, dog ate my stylus for my tablet. Also, which one do you prefer below?​

I like the top one better. The lighter colors tend to make it pop more and has a better contrast imo.

 

The top one is a lot better, I agree with Dunworry. The bottom one doesn't stand out as much and is a little dull.

 

I prefer the contrast of the first image. It's nice, but I feel like it could have looked even better if you used the thickness of the blue lines for the yellow, too.

Invest some time in depth. The image is immensely flat from neon effect, tiltshift blurring or just simple linear depth of field would go a long way. Easiest way is the blur tool, best results with soft select and gaussian blur

 

the glow is cool but work on depth by playing around with opacitys and layer effects

 

Try changing the contrast of the asteroids and render to make it look like as if it were under the same lighting. The glow lines are way too thick and bright. You should make the inner line of the glow brighter and thinner, and the outline of the glow a darker shade to make it look more natural.

Overall it looks nice, but it's not as good as the original tutorial's result. Keep it up.
