Update the banned guides list

There are things in there which are currently meaningless.

For example, eping and xfering.

My guide recently got locked because it came under the do not sell list but it should be allowed since the new update happened.

Now that the new wilderness and free trade update occurred this rule should not be there. The reason why it was there originally was because there were too many useless guides which covered only merchanting clans. But, the grand exchange has changed now and I adapted my guide to this. As you can see, it had 100% amazing rating, so why lock it when it comes under an out of date rule? The rules are there obviously for a reason. That reason is to protect the community from fraud and bad guides, but mine isn't?
At the moment, there is a spam full of staking, duelling, and luring guides. So, if you're going to lock my thread - a useful guide to others - lock these junky guides as well plz 'nate'?

 

Yeah, there are a lot of outdated guides still going around, but I think the ones which had to do with the wilderness are most outdated now.

Anyways, I do also think that people should think before they buy a guide.

 

Also needed: PEOPLE TO VERIFY GUIDES! I sent one of my guides to 3 people to verify a long time ago and they said they would verify it but haven't got back to me since. No one looks in the verified section because guides don't get put in there. There's just old junk in there.

 

This has already been suggested several times, but to power-it-up.

I sent already a updated list to Plznate some days ago to update it. (RWT and stuff)

Hope he well be able to fix it soon.

 

The problem is that he seems more keen to lock decent guides than to actually help people.

 

Report the old guides and they will be looked at.

 

I just noticed that I even got infracted for selling that guide which made me laugh.

"Read the stickies" it says in the infraction. Yes, I re-read them after but they're wildly out of date so why should I abide by them when times have changed dramatically.

 

Flipping/Merching guides have been banned for awhile now

 

Don't get me wrong, I understand this completely. However, they were banned for a particular reason that can no longer occur due to the massive update. Surely they should be taken off the list? I don't see why they should be on there any more.

 

This should be the new rules list - it really isn't hard to revise.

2. ANY guide containing fraud!
3. Guides that are just a waste of time. IE ( How to create an account on Runescape, How to log in, How to do Sheep Sheer quest, etc )
4. jangerberries or whiteberries
5. 500k p/h fletching guide (just mith bolts, addy bolts, or broad bolts)
6. Dragon/Kingly impling hunting
7. Enchanting bolts for exp/gp.
8. Alching guides
9. Any unbanning guide
10. Steam Battlestaffs enchanting money making guide
11. Mole Trading Guide
12. $0.01 Auth Guide
13. Spirit Kalphite Money Making Guides
14 Anything to do with Crystal Seeds
15. Free auth guides
16. Recovering accounts guides
17. Staking glitches
18. Dungeoneering glitches involving high exp rates.

 

This point I entirely agree with you on, I am actually getting a bit annoyed that none of the upper staff are even looking at the deatiled proposal I suggested to reform guide sales.

Ok, I am sorry that you feel that you don't have to abide by the rules simply because you don't agree with.

And they will stay banned, because "merching" is even less complicated now given that the GE has no price ceilings at all, these guides are more or less common knowledge and can be found in multiple places.

I will update the rest of the list and delete the outdated items or ones that are no longer applicable when I get back from class.

Actually, I have a proposal to make.

How about, there are no rules to the verified guides. That way, if something is actually worth its money, you can sell it. There are lots of merchanting guides but from the feedback given, clearly mine is worth its money.

No. I mean, the rules apply to non-verified guides. However you can sell any guide you want if it gets verified. So in my case, I can request a verification of the guide and if it is good then it goes on the verified guides list. If it isn't, it gets locked and sent to lumbridge. Sounds good?

Well merchanting guides should be off the list anyway since the new update means a wider spread variety of merchanting tips from top merchanters. You don't get that stuff in free guides.

 

I was like 10 years old when I first started merchanting. And that's when free trade was still there. I think it's pretty common knowledge how the market now works.

As for the DNS, yeah, should be revised.

 

Yeh well, by locking that thread I've potentially lost up to $300 so I'm going to fight to get it back and open.
