What is more important, What we perceive something to be or what it actually is?

A simple question for a complex answer

 

Of course what is true. Our senses and faculties can always fail us; what is most fundamental is objective truth that has the potential to be understood by all.

 

If you don't perceive the truth then it has the potential to be understood by no one.

Ideally; truth. Realistically; perceptions. The truth has no use to a blind people.

 

I'm going to go ahead and and respond to this ambiguous question with another: does the world exist outside of our minds? This is important to answering your question.

Depends on the context.

A criminal case.

We may perceive the defendant to be guilty, but what is more important is proof of such.

On the other hand.

An election.

It doesn't matter so much as what you truly stand for, but what people perceive you stand for when they cast their vote.

 

Everything is relative to one another, in theory.
