Wait, do you not have an Archer rank?
I am very strongly opposed to the existence of the pardon system. If I had my way, there wouldn't be one.

Would be awesome.

I 2nd this opinion

People change overtime. If we didn't have a pardon system, how would people get pardoned? How would they be given a second chance? I'm not sure about removing it completely, though the method of how it works could possibly be changed. I do think SOME people deserve a second chance, but not all.

OT: I think it's more of an issue of when would that person have been caught for it eventually? Or did they just confess to something that had NO WAY of catching up to them.

People are not perfect and do change. I believe in second chances, they make the world go round, how many people have done something wrong? People who post that second chances shouldn't be give, is your slate 100% from start of finish? People are not a perfect species, we never will be. You cannot expect us to be perfect as perfection is defined as "Having no flaws" without flaws we would all be the same, it is indeed easier to steal on a computer, no guilt of seeing the person, however it does not change that they could have been sorry, could feel bad. All things done in the world have a motive, if they did not then why would we do them? I do believe in punishment, however a severe one to never return should be a last resort, anybody ever heard of three strikes and you are out?

Are you talking about pardons overall or just the current system? I know that the system can and has been abused before, but what about some of your staff? Without pardons n4n0 and sypherz wouldn't be around now and they're two of the most active helpful staff on the team.

You wouldnt be here either =)^^

its a joke now anyway, some paradons get 5-10+ support within the day, while others barely even get a "No support". the system is flawed and people are abusing there powers and rank to help there friends out.

Why? Users are humans and they obviously mature over time. People make stupid mistakes and regret it in the future. If you want the community to keep growing you should keep allowing people back in on circumstances. Most staff are all for the whole "why should we allow X user back onto the site with a market ban, we are basically saying we don't trust them" - which I don't understand. This site isn't just used for the market, people like to chill in off-topic, GFX section and so forth. Allowing people back with market bans would expand the community and prevent them from scamming. I'm not trying to say all users that pardon should be allowed in - but more users should be allowed in with market bans.

Just a quick note on my pardon - There is no way the staff would've pardoned me back on my old account since I had no site contributions, low vouches, etc. I knew I was mature enough to make the right decisions and I had to prove that to everyone. So I created a new account to show that I have actually changed and pardoned when I thought I had a decent reputation.

I'm not the expert here, I'm just putting in my 2 cents.

You wouldnt be here either =)^^

I don't see that as abuse.

I like how he is banned lol

For scamming mind you, but no worry he wont be confessing to his wrong doings.. he will vade guaranteed. Im going to request this be closed anyways, kinda pointless and OP's banned

It's why we have pardons and IMO a lot of people who come forward after being caught get denied.

And The pardon system is there for a reason. If we didn't have it there would be a lot of banned people including some staff.

I think the original poster was talking about his beliefs that confessing to your wrongdoings shouldn't make you more eligible for a pardon.

Every situation should be looked at, and every angle should be measured accurately. First off, coming forward and admitting your fault definitely shows a undeniable hint of integrity, whether it be out of fear of getting caught, or because you have the actual guilt, the fact that you're saving the staff's time instead of waiting for it to be dug up is a step in the right direction.

Let me break it down for you. User X is a serial ban evader/scammer, User Y has scammed in the past, but it was never habitual. Both were never caught, but decided to come forth.

User X, having had a long history of rinse & repeat scamming should definitely be punished accordingly, perhaps even denied a chance to return. User Y might be pardoned given that they are checked thoroughly, their story corroborates with the offense, and there are no other mishaps that might have been left out in their pardon. Now of course, even in that situation I can guarantee you'll have to work off a TwC and/or serve some ban time; But as far as giving User Y a second chance in the community - I don't oppose that at all.

Think of it like the legal system. You're tried for your crimes, sometimes you get off with probation, sometimes they send you to the pin (Internet without sythe), sometimes you get paroled out after you serve some time.

The matter of the fact is we're all human and we're all prone to make mistakes and whether or not you scam 10M on Sythe, or pocket some candy bars at the gas station; It doesn't make you any better or less than the next person. What matters is if you're truly remorseful and capable of making a change.

On another note, as someone who has had experience in the pardon system here on Sythe, I can definitely say that situations are looked at, they are weighed, and the staff has/continues to do a decent job regulating the system to be as fair as possible.

I'm pretty sure this was directed towards my high pardon.
I'd just like to address the first few members by saying that there was no "evidence" against me and I would not have been "caught"; at least I don't think there was. I revealed my past actions because I felt it was the right thing to do, and I'm glad the staff allowed me to remain a member on the site.

On Topic:
I think the pardon system is a great tool. No human is perfect and “if you look for perfection, you'll never be content.” *

Exactly.

I remember Tyro used to stress this point quite a lot too. Everyone is very quick to point the finger at someone as they've stolen which isn't unfair, but they act as if they are a clean, pure member. I'm sure that almost everyone on this forum has done something unethical in their life at least once, whether it be on the internet or off. I'm not saying punishments shouldn't be given out, but I don't think we should assume someone is a bad person because they messed up or meddled with bad things once in their life.

I'm pretty sure this was directed towards my high pardon.

Proof that not everyone confesses with the fear of being caught.

They need the guts to come forward, and a thief is always a thief, but they are doing the right thing, he confessed, and the someone is still in hiding, they stole something yeah, they scammed a user - But they got the confidence and guts to do it.

Maybe you should have thought of that when you used hacked credit cards and scammed many members on Sythe.

To me it's very much what you've done, if you've completely fucked up someone's life regardless of how long ago it was by any sort of hacking, you should go and fuck yourself. It's retarded you can almost has the same chance of being unbanned for that if it was "ages ago" than someone who scammed a little GP at the same time (like 500k even).

That's a little unfair, he wasn't deliberately trying to steal money from others. He did screw up, but it's completely different.

I do believe amount is somewhat factored into whether pardons are awarded or not.

Yea i believe he did scam, funny how users talk about scamming etc and then scam themselves, and Joopii was active in the "Report a ban evader" thread, he reported many and got em banned, then he goes and vades himself *double facepalm*.
