Paedophiles (English spelling) who have committed a sexual offense, especially to a child, should be punished severely.
There's simply no excuse.
In England, paedophiles who have served their sentence are quite happily to anonymously prowl, and have their past hidden from surrounding families, and children.
I find this simply outrageous, as I believe in people being protected from harmful/previously harmful members of society.

I disagree with your last statement.

For just that reason, they are helpless. It is the way, and the responsibility of society to protect those who cannot protect themselves. This is the rational behind police, the justice system, etc.

If you beat or scam someone, you will receive a certain predetermined sentence most likely, however, if you beat or scam a senior citizen they tack on "Crimes against the elderly".
He's not defending pedophiles.. He's defending equality under the law..
I still believe that if you have been handled that way, you wont be feeling very well deep inside yourself. No one does.
Therefore, I don't believe it's true what they're saying.
What does it matter? Is it immoral for me to defend thieves, murderers, vandals, rioters, etc.? Who, then, it is moral for me to defend?

Like Wendy pointed out, children are more vulnerable to accepting sexual abuse down to sheer ignorance.
Horrifically, it's only too easy for paedophiles to 'groom' their victims, warping their minds into believing this sexual behavior is acceptable.
Just recently, I read about a family where a PREVIOUS paedophile had returned to society, and had two children with a woman. Four years later, the woman was literally 'bullied' out of the family by the aggressive nature of the man. Back to the point; whilst the man had been living on his own with the two children, he had been abusing his daughter. Both the children (four and three) were clueless about what was happening. The four year old mentioned in a non-accusative way, to another adult, that her father had been 'putting his fingers into Jessica's foofoo.'
This just absolutely blew me away; I was repulsed. This is why society should be protected from these atrocities possibly being committed once more. However, the anonymity of previous paedophiles in England allows them to prowl, and groom.

First of all, Africa is a continent.. So far, no continent in the World has developed a set of "Continental laws".. There is no such law about chopping off hands, etc..
Secondly, your shoplifting data is not only inaccurate, but actually the inverse. South Africa has the HIGHEST crime rate in the WORLD (fact). Africa has more thieves than it has blades of grass.. I was once mugged while hiking in a forest with some friends for God's sake.
