Samsung is recalling the Galaxy Note 7 worldwide over battery problem

What a back-burner for samsung, literally. Samsung issues a recall of over 2 million galaxy note 7 phones due to a faulty battery causing phones to explode. If you have a galaxy note 7 phone, you can get a replacement.

Do you think this hurts samsung significantly?

 

nah, they're taking action on something that was bad, thats good for a company looks imo

 

Any company of similar stature would have done the same in order to save face. It may look good for the company, but it does say something about the products being sold.

 

They would be hurt as much as Apple if Apple decided to make an iPooPoo. Samsung's dedicated fan-base and reputation should be enough to keep them away from any real trouble.

 

It's more economical for them to recall than not, since if they know of a safety defect and actively keep it secret, especially a safety defect that, you know, can blow up in your face, they can lose billions. Just look at Volkswagen and their emissions scandal. Reputation/economic loss from a recall is significantly less than a fireworks display.

 

if it blows up they'll loose a lot more than they would replacing them. they will probably take all old phones replace battery and refurbish them and cut losses possibly. idk. but it ain't a big loss for them anyways
