Paypal 'unauthorised payment' claim - back up?

I was selling some rsgp through ebay, but due to the policy and for my own safety I listed it as (the classic), 'joke with X'.

Now, a few days after I have sold some, a buyer has opened an unauthorised payment claim in paypal - my question is, is there anything I can do? I can provide evidence he was in contact with me through ebay AND show proof that I posted the item (as I did send the joke), but I'm not exactly sure what paypal rules apply here/what I can do.

    Any help? Cheers in advance.

Since Jokes and RSGP are intangible goods, you are screwed.

Incorrect; a joke would be a digital good, if I sent it through as en email/however else, so it's not a virtual good - it's on paypal's website.

    Regardless, we'll see what happens.

Okay your problem isn't necessarily whether or not the item was sent/emailed or not. With intangible goods you're not eligible for seller protection where proof of delivery (like shipping information) means that Paypal/Ebay will reimburse you. There's nothing you can do really besides hope the buyer didn't use a VPN/proxy. If he did, the payment will truly look unauthorized and you'll lose the dispute. If you contacted the buyer outside of ebay through email or phone, include that in the dispute to help prove it wasn't unauthorized.

Cheers; this was helpful. I was wondering if it would be good to include a coppy of a message (even though it as through ebay) where he claims he was hacked and had to recover, as surely paypal can check this in a few minutes and straight away see if he's lying or if he actually has a different IP logging in?
