Has anyone had this before?

I'm under 18, therefore not allowed to use paypal. I want to start up a shop on PA to get better prices for my gold. If I were to start using my paypal frequently, will they just randomly ask me to upload ID or something like that to see if I'm old enough? I just don't want to get my account locked with $ in it.

 

if your account gets locked (paypal) in order to get it unlocked, you have to provide SSN, ID, and proof of address.

Other than that I don't think they would ask for it.

If you want to use the paypal tho, you need to get it verified, which will require a form of ID i think, but there are other ways of verifying your paypal i'm sure you could find on the internet.

 

In the case that it does get locked, obviously they would see I'm under 18. What happens then? Do they just keep the cash in your account?

 

The cash will remain in your account but your account will be limited. After a while you can withdraw all your cash into your bank account.

 

No, it would be locked until you turn 18. You still have the money in the account.

To verify your PayPal if you're under 18, do as follows;

1) Attached a debit/credit card on your PayPal.
2) Attached your checking account to your PayPal.
3) Wait 3-5 days for a charge to show up on your checking account for $1.95. It will be labeled as "PayPal -XXXX" you need to enter the XXXX on PayPal to verify your checking account. PayPal will credit your PayPal account $1.95, which you can deposit back into your account.

After you have a debit card and checking account linked, PayPal will NEVER ask for your ID (unless someone claims you're committing fraud).
