Paypal gift option.

The paypal gift option is the most commonly known/used option used to buy and sell virtual items on Sythe. But the problem is that not many people know how to check if the money was sent as a gift. Some people do it by team teamviewering (made up the word) the other person while sending the money. But the occasional person could find that a bit annoying, untrustworthy etc etc. Other just has trust in the user as he/she would just hopefully send it as a gift. Well there are other ways to tell.


What is paypal?

The Wikipedia definition is: PayPal is an e-commerce business allowing payments and money transfers to be made through the Internet. PayPal serves as an electronic alternative to traditional paper methods such as checks and money orders.


What is the gift option?

The gift option is a type of payment can be sent on paypal. It is the most common way to send money on the black market as it has the least chance of being claimed as a unauthorised payment. The gift option for paypal often has the lowest fees making it better for both the seller and purchaser.

For many people on the selling virtual items you are worried about the payment being charged back. Now you think how am I going to make sure the buyer is not going to charge back the payment? Using the gift option provides an extra security feature to your arsenal, the way the money is sent you would have to think that you can't make a charge back due to not receiving your item, the item is faulty or even receiving the wrong item. This is the main reason it is extremely hard to charge back on the payment. But they still can occur if somebody uses a stolen paypal or rings up their credit card company complaining they didn't send it.

But they buyer can still charge by claiming somebody else had access to his account. For this I suggest you read this guide on what they are and how to avoid them.

When sending the payment as a gift please be aware that it is extremely hard for you to recover your money in the off chance you get scanned. So I wouldn't recommend sending the payment as a gift if you are going first to people with: Twc, low post count and vouches. But that does not mean if they ask you to send it as a gift that you shouldn't. People can conceive you as a scammer if you don't send it as they ask.

Well first I'll show to send it via gift.

1. Once logged on click the "send money" button.



2. Click the personal tab.



3. Now click continue button and the next few steps are the same as any payment option.

Okay now that we have passed the easy stage of sending money as a gift option we come into the stage of checking it.


Step 1. First click to see the details of the payment.



Step 2. Click issue a refund.



Step 3. If it's sent as a gift you will see that partial refunds cannot be sent. Like below.



Step 4. If it looks like below it wasn't sent as a gift.

Well that is one if it was sent as a gift now for the other option.

Step 1. Go to your email account and look for emails sent to you.



Step 2. If you see the title as You've got money, it means you received it as a gift.



Step 3. If you see it as 'You've received a payment' it means the money was not sent as a gift.




Hopefully now you know how to check if the money was sent as a gift.



In the off chance they do not send the payment as a gift calmly, tell them the payment was not a gift. Once that has been said and you view their reactions (apologetic/arrogant) make a inform judgement if you really want to go through with the trade with them. If they are sorry and say "I'll send it again", re fund them and wait for them to send it again. If they send it as a non gift again, re-fund them and terminate the trade. You can't make the same mistake twice. If they are being arrogant they usually know they have been found out and are most likely to recover the money. So with that I suggest for you to re-fund them and tell them I cannot go through with the trade.

Some paypals dont have the gift option though

 

yeah some countries dont. but nice guide simple and well written. for step 3 it just means they sent as any type of personal payment not necessarily a gift correct?

 

Yes it does. But, if they sent it as any of the personal option they would most likely be sending as a gift because you requested a gift.

Thanks for the feedback! I think it's a little messy now because the different size of the pictures. Going from big to small in 1 step doesn't look the best. Also now I read it I think the guides is a bit too basic lol.

A very big thank you to Hahanerd. I have fixed up any grammatical/spelling errors (if I have missed any could you pm me them.). Fixed the picture and spacing and added the chargebacks can still occur line.

 

Great guide and it's not really messy you should just put way #1,#2,#3 before each strategy but then again it was mostly my fault cuz i was just scrolling..for my paypal since i put it in a diff country so i can have limits it doesnt have a gift button it has an others button.

 

Good guide... tbh i got over 60 trades and i didnt know how to check or it was gifted (thought i knew, but i was wrong)

First off cosrob, that was a terrific guide, one of your better I must add. But what really irks me about some of your guides is the color scheme. It may just be I'm a picky weirdo, but I do not think the way you jump around from color to color looks good. It would be better at least if you used fewer colors and maybe rotated them in a specific order. But that is a minor change. Besides that minor change I can not see to much that needs improvement, possibly adjust the spacing between pictures. But besides I really found this guide useful. Lately I have had trouble with people reclaiming money, so I will defiantly put this to use. My only two other questions are is this the only way you can tell, and if not do you know of any other methods of determining payments as gifts. So please get back to me on those, and help me out with those colors
