    duel monitor Question

I want to setup two monitors to my computer but my graphics card only has 1 hdmi port. I tried having 1 hdmi going for my graphics card and another from my motherboard but it seems my computer isn't recognizing the monitor connected to the motherboard. Is this normal I'm not sure if you can only be using one at a time or what.

Normally, if a computer has an external graphics card, you can only use that port, and not the one that's inside the motherboard.

What you'll need to do is get a splitter.

Does your GFX card just have HDMI, not VGA (blue port) or anything?

VGA cables are alot cheaper and I don't think the quality will matter much on a pc monitor.

It has 1 hdmi and 1 vga. I have a vga to component cable splitter so I'll try that.

Then as long as your monitor has HDMI port then you're fine.

You'll just use 1 hdmi cable and 1 vga cable and you'll be set.

If your monitor just has DVI and VGA, get a converter for the from hdmi > vga (or dvi)

Just note, on the higher res monitors, VGA really does affect quality.

So if you have a smaller resolution monitor try to use VGA on that, and HDMI(or a converter on the better monitor)
