Paulie attempted to resell me scammed Amazon gift cards. Resell is underlined because it is clear that Paulie is just a reseller. It would be unlikely to be dealing directly with the actual scammer. These cards typically pass down through several resellers.

Anyone that did even an ounce of due diligence can determine what they are attempting to buy/sell. Paulie is guilty of knowingly engaging in this fraud to make a profit. He quickly blocked me once he knew I was aware of the source of his cards.

Explanation:

When I say "scammed/stolen" gift cards, I am referring to any type of gift card that is obtained through some form of coercion. This coercion encompasses many different scams. Some examples are: fake IRS agents, windows virus, pretending to be a family member that is in trouble, ransomware, etc. Recently, it has become popular for youtubers to bate these scammers, shedding some much needed light on these scammers.

These types of gift cards are almost always physical. The scammer will instruct the victim to drive to a retail store(bank first sometimes), buy the gift cards(with cash, however, that doesn't mean cash is always used), and finally take a picture of the card and receipt. Be aware that pictures are not always available, but in cases involving Amazon, it is easy to tell because the codes that are physical always start with "AQ". So, someone coming to you with many physical gift cards paid in cash, does not automatically mean they are legit, it actually raises a red flag.

It is sometimes hard to determine exactly what is going on with gift cards(things are hardly black and white), but here are two ways, for these cards specifically:
#1) How many different cities/states are on the receipts.
#2) A handwritten note, next to the card/receipt, MUST be requested within a certain timeframe. This is the ONLY way to determine if the seller of a physical gift card actually has it in their possession.

There are many types of fraud to look out for when dealing with gift cards, however, I personally find this kind the worst. They are stealing from individuals, which in most cases are the elderly/less fortunate. The people peddling these scammed gift cards are just as guilty and are very much part of the problem.
