Dispute Opened by Paypal? What do I do?

    Hi guys,

Yesterday night I sold $500 worth of gold to a sythe member.

He sent me $500 via paypal as gift. Here is a picture of of the the payment details (info edited).

As you can see in the picture below, payment was sent as gift, and a CC was not used since there were no fees. A note was also attached!

Now here is a picture of the dispute thing.

    My question is:

    1. Was this dispute opened by the buyer (as in hes a scammer) or is this a dispute opened by paypal due to the large sum of money sent as a gift?

    2. Also, with consideration of the above. What should I say in the dispute? I mean payment was made for intangible goods, and you can see the note he left.

So, if anyone could answer those questions and give me some tips and advice it'd be much appreciated!

    Thanks!

Dispute Opened by Paypal? What do I do?

its from paypal yes i would try to call them to ask about the dispute maby that will get you somewhere

they may ask you to verify somthing

and i would tell them it was for a in real life item not runescape say you sold your friend a laptop and you dont know why he sent it as a gift insted of a payment or somthing like that

    *edit
i just re read it and it looks like it was a stolen paypal account that sent you money due to the fact it kind of says that

so maby explain to paypal that you sold someone somthing and you have no way of knowing if it was there paypal or not and you should not be responsible for PayPal security of there accounts

The dispute was authorized by the PayPal account owner. Either the account was stolen, a kid used his parents account without his permission, or the person is trying to scam you.

If you did anything to confirm you were talking to the owner of the paypal, include that into your dispute. If not, I don't know any tricks to say to make them believe you =/.

Well, I send in my dispute or whatever. Was basically honest about everything. Hoping for the best, but shit happens and scumbags exist.

Yea, thing is I deleted all MSN convos cause he sent money first, then he said goodnight and peaced. I thought all was well, but apparently not as I found out today coming home from school.

To add insult to injury, I don't even have enough evidence to ban this scammer from sythe. All I can suggest is don't trade with CaLL mE dK...

Shit happens guys, If I lose I lose, better to move on and end up making more money than dwelling on it.

There's nothing you can do, I have been scammed out of over $780 from the exact same thing. That's the chance you take when you make transactions through paypal. Calling a rep will do nothing to improve your odds because you cannot provide any tracking information and they do not have anything in place to protect sellers with electronic transactions.

Msn logs with also prove nothing. The only thing that you can do is wait for them to decide, and next time screen who you are selling to very carefully or use http://www.playerauctions.com/
