Can anyone make me a good desktop setup for <$1,200(Preferably <$1,000 if possible, but $1,200 is doable)

    I still need:
    Moniter(http://www.newegg.com/Shopping/ShoppingItem.aspx?ItemList=N82E16824176198)?
    Case

    Video Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127664

    About $680.
If anything I might need a HDD but not yet. Tell me if I need to upgrade/downgrade anything.

My laptop is great for everything I do now but I'd like to have a desktop as well.

Well, I'd go with an i5-3570, and either a 6870 for the GPU or upgrade to a 480..
    Enough HD space to suit your needs; 8GB of RAM; 650 watt PSU;
I don't use anything but WD Caviar Black drives.. Not green of blue.

That's on a budget build though without skimping on other parts..

You could always get any GPU and CPU you want, they basically determine the performance of your machine, the more you spend in those areas, the better it will perform..

Updated my setup. Tell me if I need anything or if I need to up/downgrade anything.
I also really need a case. I'm not good with those so if anyone can find me one.(preferable <$100)

Go for the 3570k over the 3570. $15 difference, and you will want to overclock in the future, I am willing to bet. If you live near a micro center, hit them up, they sell the 3570k for $189.99, just picked one up last night.

Next, the motherboard and gpu you selected dont work, the Z68 chipset does not have pci Express 3.0s which is what the gpu is.
    Go for this motherboard-
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131837
Or anything similar, honestly most motherboards are pretty cookie cutter, the same old thing.

Next the gpu, you say your limit is $1000, so you have room to go up with the gpu alot.
I would go with this one,
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130787
    Review would be here,
    http://www.anandtech.com/show/5818/nvidia-geforce-gtx-670-review-feat-evga/

You could also take your ram up to 16 Gigs if you want, no real need to though.

All you need now is a case and HDD, which any of either will work basically. I would go with a SSD though.

For under $1,000, that gpu would put me at $1,175, not including a case or hdd.

I got $1085ish with the micro center price. You said you could go up to $1200 also.

That gives you 115 for a case and HDD, or you can get a lesser motherboard or psu and have more for the HDD and case.

I don't think I'll need such a gpu. I think I can work with one that's $100-$200 and then I can get a better case and I might be able to use the 2 HDDs I have atm.

Then use your own hdds if they are 6 gb/s.
Any i5 processor will work i guess, but go with a z77 chipset for the pci express 3.0
