Okay, so I'm REALLY scared of aliens..

and I was just on the phone with my girlfriend, after a small arguement, and we were kidding around, and she said "I hope you get visited by aliens tonight"
and I said, yeah alright.
then she told me about this thing on TV she saw, that said everyone has this dream once in their life, about being visited by aliens, but you like woke up in your dream, but you couldn't move, and you couldn't actually wake up.

anyone heard of this, or had it happen?
or has anyone had a dream about aliens?

haha I'm 18 years old, but when it comes to this, I'm legit freakin.

But no, everyone has nightmares that feel real and are still slightly afraid when they wake up

I've definitely had a case of that on multiple occasions. Scary, especially when you know exactly what the fuck happened in your dreams and you are still contemplating how in the world did you wake up in this mysterious bed.

 

yeah this sleep paralysis thing, isnt like physically harmful.
but id think itd be way psychologically worse, cause like, imagine you woke up, and you couldnt move, and you saw an alien or a ghost or like, hitler lol.
thatd be way worse than being hurt.

 

That can't be psychologically harmful in anyway, i'm sure. I think it's just a matter of controlling your fears .

 

lol, well not long term in a sense, itd just be real scary at the time.
id get over it but itd suck.

its all good though, cause they said its only noticable on the REM cycle(or part you dream in) and A, i dont remember my dreams, and B, i usually dont get to that spot in my sleep, cause i only sleep 5-6 hours a night.

 

Yeah what Hellz Shellz said, it sounds like she is describing sleep paralysis. It happens to me fairly often.

To be honest, it's very stupid of both of you to jump to such stupid childish conclusions.

Sleep paralysis is scary as fuck.. I woke up and seen my hand/arm all bloody and i couldn't move.. Looked so real that i would've swore that it happened if i not knew what sleep paralysis was.

 

Never had it. I dream weirdly though. I always know when I'm dreaming and I'm always able to wake myself up at any point.

 

good thing is, i lived through the night! haha, but i had a dream about having it, haha but i woke up lol.

In case you're still wondering, not everybody gets it. In fact, a lot of people have never even heard of it.

 

People may have not heard of the technical term, but everyone gets it once in a while whether they realize it or not..

 

That would be called Sleep Paralysis. I used to get it alot, I actually had it a couple nights ago. Its when you are just going to get in REM sleep and then your eyes open, but your mind doesn't stop dreaming, so you start seeing and hearing different things. It freaked the fuck out of me when I first started to get it back when I was like 10 years old, but I've grown to deal with it.

If you see anything, its not aliens, its just figures of your imagination, you brain is making you see that. The easiest way I get out of it is that since I know when it happens (you will too when you can't move but you can think), tell yourself that you have to move your head or move your leg, It will take awhile to do if it first happens to you but I am so used to getting it that its simple for me to tell myself in my brain to move something.
