I've actually just used a £25 voucher for advertising on Facebook, but if you have any other contribution to make then it'll be much appreciated!

What's the harm in creating one? It's not exactly just for advertising. The Community Development created it as a way for Sythe members to communicate and speak off-site. It might also be a nice way to keep up to date with whats going on and competitions. Also, for the Gaming Nights, it will be a great way to see who's able to attend and who isn't. Overall, I think it's worth a go.

I thought the whole idea of this little group was to advertise and bring in new members and activity in the community, not trying to be a dick but... You want people to communicate and discuss Sythe.org competitions offsite which results in a decrease in potential activity? As for seeing who's attending I beleive vB4 has a nice Calendar system with events which would again bring potential activity and unite the community on Sythe.org and not an external site.

It's not for members to discuss all of this offsite, it's just another way for it to be done a little bit more personally, you can see facebook profiles this way, maybe add your friends if you want too, put a face to the name. I know it's not for some people, but I don't believe it will draw people away from the site at all.

 

You're still officially providing a tunnel for activity and members to go through by making it Sythe.org officially branded, members will be encouraged to talk on Facebook rather than the forums.

 

It's designed to be a way to communicate along with Sythe, not to take them away. If you enjoy let's say a sport, you go to a fansite and talk about it. But you don't ditch the sport do you, otherwise you can't discuss it on the fansite. I know it's kind of a bad analogy, but that's kind of what we're trying to do here. Also, we wouldn't mind if it brought a few more members to Sythe either.

 

Even though most people wouldn't want to post on the page or anything? It's highly unlikely. Stop getting into the little tiny issues which aren't even issues and just stay on topic and like the page..pointless argument which won't be heard..just wasting your own time.

That's not a bad analogy it's a terrible one if ever I've seen one. You're getting confused as RuneScape would be the sport in this situation. It's not like they're going to ditch Sythe just post less and be less active(possibly).

They're not litle tiny issues, they're the main repercussions of this.

 

That's not overly fair, he's made his opinion and while I'm not entirely convinced, it's something that I'll be trying to monitor to ensure it doesn't happen, just in case.

Not exactly, we're saying that Sythe is the Sport because of its community, which is what you believe is going to be affected. The Sythe Community doesn't have too much to do with RuneScape. I feel that its potential to bring in more members through friends wanting to participate in a game as well comes is much higher than what I believe is quite a small chance a member will enjoy this page so much.

Most of the stuff on the facebook page will have links to the related Sythe.org threads anyway, so they'll head over towards it anyway.
