Need help account was recovered

Hi I bought an account on here in early December and it was just recently recovered. I already made a scammer report last night but no one has commented back yet. I was wondering 2 things. 1. is my credit card information in jeopordy because I bought a 1 year gold membership for the account? and 2. is there anyway I can get the account banned because I definitly do not want him playing on the account for the next 10 months on my dime?

You always run a risk when buying accounts off other players even if they do provide you with all of the recovery information. As far as your credit card information, it is safe because your card should be starred out. if anything, they can only see the last four numbers on your card which will not get them anywhere. Perhaps you could try to dispute the transaction with your bank or paypal, but im not sure if that will work for you, but its worth a shot. i believe though that you can write jagex and tell them your account was hacked and you would like to remove the credit card information. You can not get the account banned. Only jagex can do that. You tecnically broke the rules when you bought the account so bringing it up to Jagex would be pointless and would put a bad spotlight on you.
All you can do at this point is provide sythe admins with as much information as you can regarding the trade and hopefully he gets what he deserves. Help clean up the community and do your part by getting this user banned for scamming you. Best of luck.

 

thank you for taking the time to respond. I do feel much better knowing my financial info is safe. I am aware that I my self cannot ban an account but am wondering if there is ANYTHING I can do to get it banned. Like tweeting a jagex admin and telling them I bought the account(which i believe is a bannable offence). also do you know how long it takes the admins here to respond to scam reports? I have not yet gotten a response and I made the report last night. also if you dont mind answering a few more questions, how was he able to get past jagex authenticator and i also changed the password and e-mail? thank you again for responding.

 

The original owner of an account can ALWAYS recover. It doesn't matter how much security you have set up. They only have to claim the account was stolen, and provide plenty of information proving they're original owner. Jagex reset every security measure you had in place because, to them, you did not have rightful possession of the account.

 

My suggestion is you contact Jagex LTD's customer support for billing, Cancel the membership or come clean and explain what happened. They should either issue you a refund or try to work it out a different way. If that fails you can always call the bank and let them know you paid for a service and were scammed out of it. Either way when Jagex sees the funds have been taken from them for the membership on the account they will eventually freeze the scammers account until the scammer pays the funds back. Or they will just remove his membership and force him to buy it again.

 

Go to your bank and get the money back you paid for the year membership his account will be banned and can only be unbanned by him paying for a year membership, that will show him lol

Jagex aren't stupid enough to give your credit card details to someone who asks for them using your 'playername' incase it isn't you. Your card is safe. However for the account, remember the original owner can always recover.

 

Yeah accounts will be recovered always unless its a super trusted sythe user. I'd rather legitly sell something and gain profit instead of risking my good sythe account, and lose potential at thousands. zCard info is safe.

 

Even super-trusted is not even really trusted, sadly. But yes, you do have the better odds there. A few years back an account I purchased off a Sythe Moderator was said to have been sitting idle for a long time with her becoming the new owner. A year later, the account was taken back but I believe it was by the owner before her. Even though when I contacted her, she became quite shady. But, ah well.


So, it is best to just enjoy the account while you have it and never expect it as forever yours.

 

Exact same thing happened to me, I bought an account, used my own 200m on it to get some skills higher, while I was training, I took a break then bang its locked, 1 month later its recovered by someone else. Seller wont admit its them, can't be anyone else but I'm sorry man, that account is gone, you could try to get the money back with your bank or paypal? Provide evidence you bought the account to get it banned I guess.

Honestly, all you need to do is dispute the transaction with the bank, messes up the account.
