    increasing speed with firefox

    This is a little guide I felt like making to help you, user's of sythe how to increase your browsing speed with FireFox.

    The first thing you need to do is open FireFox

    After FireFox has loaded you need to type "about:config" in the URL bar, as shown ;

    [IMG]

    If this is your first time in "about:config" you may get a message like this ;

    [IMG]

    No need to worry if you get a message like this, it is simply telling you that you should not go ahead without knowing what you are doing. No need to worry about it since I am showing you everything you need to do step by step.

    Once you click "I'll be careful, I promise!" you will be re-directed to a page of all your FireFox settings/connections.

    The screen with all your FireFox connections and settings will come up, and you will have a little search bar at the top. In that little search bar you are going to type "network" as shown ;

    [IMG]

    You don't have to hit enter once you type network because it will automatically do it for you.

    Now what your going to do is scroll down until you find something that says "network.http.pipelining" before you do anything to it, it should say ;

    [IMG]

    What your going to do now is DOUBLE-CLICK that "network.http.pipelining" so that it changes into ;

    [IMG]

    From double-clicking that, it should go from "False" to "True" and "default" to "user set" as shown ;

    [IMG]

    Now you need to look down the list a couple of lines until you see almost the same thing, only this time it will say "network.http.proxy.pipelining" double click that as you did the first one.

    Once you did that you are going to scroll up about 3 text's or so and look for another similar text such as the others that says "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" for old FireFox version's i recommend you set it to 11, but for the newer FireFox versions set it to 30 as shown ;

    [IMG]

    What you need to do is anywhere on the screen however I chose off to the side in the blank space is "Right click on it > New Integer" as shown ;

    [IMG]

    Now a screen should pop up that looks like this ;

    [IMG]

    Once you get a screen that looks like this you are going to type "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" as shown in the box above. Once you have typed it hit "Ok."

    Once you hit ok another box should come up that looks something like this ;

    [IMG]

    And your going to want to type "0" <-- that is a Zero, and then hit "Ok."

    Once you hit ok, restart your FireFox.

    YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE YOU DON'T SAVE ANY OPEN WINDOWS WHEN YOU RESTART YOUR FIREFOX OR ELSE THIS WILL NOT WORK UNTIL YOU FULLY TURN FIREFOX ON THEN OFF

    Shut your firefox off, and open it back up and start surfing the web, faster then before.

    Well, there you have it, a faster FireFox.

    P.S (Going to make a IEXP version of how to make it faster later tonight possibly)

    Enjoy.

    Eh, I suppose. I tend to get them all fixed sometime today if I have time, I'm not happy with the quality.

    WARNING : This will make you lag horribily if you play runescape.

    I have used this method and I lagged the crap out of myself for no reason with a mbps of 4.0 +. I have a very good laptop that its just been system restored a month ago.

    This is good for non-rs thoguh =]
