    getting rid of stomach fat

hi, i'm interested in learning some good work outs to lose some stomach fat. i'm not sure at exactly what weight i maxed out at but 3 years before i started dieting i weighed 220 pounds and i'm 5'9'' (i didnt step on a scale until about 2 or 3 months into my dieting because i simply didnt have a scale and was embarrassed about my weight which is why i cant give a better estimate). in the last 6-8 months though, purely from changing my eating habits, i have dropped down to 155 pounds. however, i am having trouble losing the last of my stomach fat so i assume that i am going to have to get rid of it through working out so i was wondering what i should do to get rid of it. i heard running should help getting rid of body fat in general and i'm going to start doing that when the weather is a little warmer but i also really want a work out that will target my stomach fat. thanks in advance for any help.

Cardio, weight training, and a low carbohydrate diet, will speed up metabolism and enable you to lose body fat and keep it off. There's no way to lose fat from one area of your body. So basically, you're just going to have to keep exercising. Nice job on going from 220 to 150. Don't think you really need any advice or help. Pretty sure just from that 70pound loss you know what you're doing, and are doing fine, so just keep it up. Good Luck.

    You can't target fat loss

Do as much cardiovascular exercise (running, jogging, walking) as you can and it will melt away. Not instantly but it will

As they said, there is no way to specifically burn off that remaining stomach fat. The best way is to go running or jogging

thanks for the quick replies. i was thinking that i may have heard somewhere that you can't target what fat you burn but i just wasn't sure if that was true or not. also, thanks for the encouragement krunkie :) i guess i'll just keep up what i'm doing and throw in some running and jogging as you guys mentioned.

@5buxamonth - just changing your eating habits really can get you results. you are probably like i was. i would eat constantly, probably over 4000 calories a day but once i decided to cut back on what i ate i really started losing weight. you should probably talk to a nutritionist because like i said, it really does work. however, i just wish i had started working out when i began dieting because i would probably be in the physical condition i am aiming for by now :p

since the question i was asking in the first place has been answered already, i have 1 more. as i said, i am 5'9'' and 155 pounds now. im aiming for a weight of 140 or maybe even in the 130's. i was wondering if below 140 pounds is too low or not. keep in mind, this is without much muscle at all so if i start gaining some muscle mass, obviously my target weight wont be as low.

Don't do that, #1 its incredibly unhealthy and #2 you are miserable the whole time you are starving yourself so you are less likely to keep it going

just do some jogging and cut down on your diet, you will lose weight eventually

Jogging is a start but it doesn't always work.

If you're really serious about it - look into an actual diet program (atkins, weight watchers, etc...) I know a few people who have had success with them. They are popular for a reason..

If you don't want to do that, try nicotine patches or gum. Nicotine speeds up your metabolism which is what keeps your weight down.

Just exercise regularly, eat better, and possibly try things such as pills and nicotine gum/patches.

Starving yourself does nothing. It lowers your intake of carbs and fats, and the moment you eat everything you take will be stored as fat for later use as your body is in starvation. You will get tired too quickly and resort to eating which will make you fatter.
