    Hey all

    I'm Geoffrey, aka Nil Volentibus Arduum, but some may still know me as Min.

    First off, before anyone is going to pull this card, yes, I've been banned on Sythe, and yes, I have scammed in the past. I'm not anything alike these days, I'm entirely convinced that one needs to earn respect, and for quite some time I was convinced I was starting to earn it, all legit. I reported whatever I considered inappropriate, some reports I passed over to mods that were online at the time, some reports I posted myself.

    Now, when selling items on Sythe, you're highly likely to be contacted by impersonators. People that try to use one's reputation to their own advantage. We all have been contacted by an impersonator at least once, right?

    Whenever I got contacted by an impersonator, what I would do was grab their IP, tell them, and enjoy their reactions. Due to the fact that alot of people don't know your IP can be grabbed over MSN, they don't bother using a VPN to hide their IP, thus making this even more enjoyable. Most of the impersonators are easy to spot, their emails have huge spelling differences, the emails aren't registered or they have different extensions, we could go on all day.

    Until 06-29-2011, the day I got contacted by an impersonator from a way different caliber. This guy obviously knew what he was doing as he had bought a domain and an email to be able to impost R2Pleasent; one of the most reputable gold sellers here on Sythe. This person bought www.R2Pleasant.com, and had created [email protected]. Everyone could tell by the tone on which he contacted me that he has done this before. Ofcourse, he didn't know that I was able to grab IPs over MSN.

    He even came clean about reselling the gold here on Sythe, claiming everyone on Sythe would be shocked. This is the only reason why I reported this to Karl the same exact day, which was 10 minutes after the attempted scam.

    This is the part where I got cut out; Panic had been reinstated on Sythe, making it look like his MSN had been hacked, which I thought was weird. Karl's latest response was even more weird; of which he still owes me an explanation after all this time.

    So there I was, I got banned for evading, and wasn't able to contact anyone. I was depending on others to pass over PMs for me, a whote lot of thanks to RsProd and NzReborn for that. However, FireZ never got back to me, Karl started refering to me as a timewaster, Giverny never really responded to my IRC messages, however I'm not sure if she actually received any of them.

    I may have made a mistake sending this to Karl, as I told to Finn earlier I heard someone say he and Panic get along quite well, but he was the highest ranked mod that was online at the time, and one I trusted considering we got along quite fine when I was known as Min.

    If there's any info missing, or anything that needs verification, contact me on [email protected] ; there's nothing I have to hide about this matter and I'd love this to be considered over with.

    I still hope it's of any help, and if not; I just wanted to say that I at least tried contributing to Sythe at the time; I'm honestly still being haunted about being called a time waster when helping out, I don't think that was called for.

    My judgement is as follows:

    There exists no concrete evidence to demonstrate a link between the IP address shown in the MSN conversation and the impersonator. Given the lack of this integral evidence, no further action can - or will - be taken. The assertion has been made that the IP address in question belongs to the impersonator. This must be regarded as conjecture, as per your admission, in light of the lack of evidence required.
