Anyone wanna explain to me what this is? is it like maxing out your computer? doesnt it make it hotter? how do you do it? possible with a laptop? is it worth it?
Gives you more performance from your CPU, yes it does put out more heat. Not sure if it's possible with lappies as I've never tried, but if it is it's not worth it as laptops run way to hot as it is. And yes, it's worth it. Can give 15+ FPS in games depending on the game and how big your OC is(massive boost.)
No you don't have to buy any software. I believe you overclock through bios and it's probably a terrible idea for laptops as they already have bad heat dissipation and putting extra heat into the system could fry the cpu.
Overclocking pushes your CPU's performance. You said you have a laptop? You would need a high powered cooler touching the plastic where your CPU is near at all times if you overclocked However, this isn't worth it at all, because laptops aren't designed for overclocking, and without direct contact to the metal of the CPU cooler to the CPU, it's drastically less effective at cooling.
