Ouija Board - Need some advice.

So, for the past few days I've been thinking about getting a Ouija board to mess around with. I plan on taking it to my friend's house and me and my two buddies are going to use it.

I've done a lot of research on it from a lot of different sites - and the answers couldn't be more different. I get a lot of negative things that tell me to avoid a Ouija board, people get posessed, Demons will come into your life and affect you in dark ways, etc., etc. But I got a decent amount of "It's just a game, have fun with it".

I read the Skeptic's Dictionary that said the heart-shaped Planchette isn't controlled by spirits or entities, but by subconcious micro-movements in the medium's hands. You are totally unaware of the movements, and all the answers are based off of your subconcious movements answering your question, which means your subconscious is answering.

I personally don't know what to believe.

I used a Ouija board with my friend when I was 10 or 11 or so, and we asked it silly, juvenile questions, and nothing happened afterwards, leading me to do believe it's just a fucking game. But I decided to get some advice.

Should I avoid a Ouija board? If so, why? Is it dangerous? Are there precautions I can take if it there is a chance of danger? What is your opinion about them?

I am going to speak to someone who runs an occult shop about them, and see what they say. If they don't tell me to compeltely stay away and never touch one, I'm going to ask about what I can do to minimalize risk, if there even is any.

    Thanks a bunch!

I have heard a lot of storied about them.
My dad said 1 of his friends died the day after use 1.
My mum says wierd shit happened around the house when she was using 1.

In my personal experience and I am not lying right now, a friend of mine (me and 5 other of my mates were using the board at my friends house) got 3 cuts on his leg.
He had jeans on and the jeans were in perfect shape.
but yet he has 3 cuts right next to each other dripping with blood (not a long just like a normal cut would bleed) they were about 5 cm in length.
Baaad things have been happening to him ever since, not really bad, but he has just generally had really bad luck, always losing things being to late for things all stuff like that. He was never like that before..

Me though... I am perfectly fine, I wouldn't let anyone use 1 in my house.
    But i guess i would use 1 again :)

You shouldn't really mess around with things like this, you may not believe in it but it could be true. If you do decide to mess around with a Ouija board, tell us about it.

Its a fucking board game....wtf are you serious? They make these things in a factory so how can the hold any kind of spiritual power? Its all fake. You will be fine to use one seriously...you guys think a board game can kill you or cause bad things to happen to you?

Prefect example is the move 23. The guy read a book about the number 23 and how it was in everything and it made people go soooo crazy trying to get it out of their head that it drove them to kill themself. Look around if you want to see the number 23 you can make it happen. If you don't believe me look for any other number like 21, or 7, 6. You can find it. It isn't a big deal to use these things. Its all bullshit.

These kinds of things are honestly up to your own personal perspective on how life works and how reality operates, specifically concerning superstition and the supernatural. I don't feel that it's necessarily dangerous from a literal, physical aspect, but if you are someone who is easily obsessed or easily riled by anything that seems supernatural, I would avoid it.

That is all you have to say? You helped so much.
Pretty sure I stated how I feel it doesn't work..also if this board can bring about demons and what not, as stated above, then why can't other things? So if I ask it who am I going to marry? According to the game it should answer almost anything you ask it correct? Or if I ask it what is the name of a demon that can cause world destruction, it should give me the name of demon. Millions of people play with this game, and nothing happens. Some say things do happen, well what about people that live their normal day life and horrible demon like things attack them or get fucked over in life for no reason? So why don't you post something besides a stupid ass sentence. Prove to me I'm wrong in saying its just a game, and don't say oh prove to me your right. Just in case you do, read my above post that you so kindly quoted.

Personally, I would never use one.

I have heard the same stuff as you; some say "It's stupid, nothing's going to happen." and then others tell you stories about people being possessed, haunted and killed.

But I wouldn't risk my life like that, even if there is the tiniest chance that I might get haunted, I dont want to run the risk.

As you can see from the differing view points on the thread, the effectiveness of, and origin behind the movements of the Ouija board are debated.

Certain religious spheres believe that when you use the board, you essentially open yourself up to demonic possesion and control, allowing them to control the board and give you your answers.

However there have been attempts at scientific review of the board (I say attmepts because you cannot logically verify a spiritual notion), showing what you stated in your OP about the involuntary muscle movements as the cause.

I personally wouldnt mess with the thing, but I am a bit cautious. Good luck.

Your source of information that proves this is where?
Millions and millions of people use this board every day. If it was true that it can kill you, cause you to haunted and what have you, then why are they sold in stores? Why isn't it on the news? Why can I not use my fucking sorry board and get the same effect or play boggle and see a message from the devil? Why is it only this board game that opens a portal?

It's merely a game, anybody who claims otherwise is either ill-informed, or a moron (or both). Whenever you hear somebody talking about any sort of supernatural entity, weather it be angels, demons, ghosts, gods, etc. these claims should always be approached with a great amount of skepticism. These beliefs originated thousands of years ago with men who did not understand the universe of which they were a part. When somebody was afflicted with a disease, it was believed that a witch caused it. When a town was destroyed in a natural disaster, it was because the people had angered a god.

What I'm really trying to say is that anybody who claims that you will be posessed by demons by using something that you can buy at Toys-R-Us is a scientifically-ignorant fool. Do not take people's baseless claims seriously, even if the claims are widely held, for most people are extremely gullible and will believe whatever information their witless religious leaders tell them to.

Don't knock it when you haven't any proof of it being just a game. Just because you can buy it at a store doesn't mean they don't work. Not everything has to be blessed by a magical voodoo doctor to work. Take a poltergeist for example. Those work through electrical appliances, not a magical voodoo enchanted object.

OT: Whether to use it or not, it's your choice. Opinions on what will happen are based off of your religion.

The thing I think amuses me though is that in movies when these are used, the religious say it's bullshit when they're the one who believe in God, Angels, and Demons, but the Gothic Athiest kids in the movies are always using them and saying people get possessed by angels, demons, and what not.

    Choose wisely.

If its doesn't have to be blessed by a voodoo wack job, then as I said before how come I can't use bingo or my sorry board?? Whats so special about the Ouija board? Not shit it what its starting to look like. Doesn't logical make sense. Only this board game can allow me to be possessed? I want to know why that is, and what is the difference between boggle and sorry...they are also just games...

    Game: an amusement or pastime
Small children are amused by Ouija boards. We also have a perfectly reasonable non-supernatural explanation for how it works.

No. Opinions on what happen are either based off of facts or are prejudices.

??? Do you even know what atheism is?

It's a game made by Hasbro. Toys R Us sells them. It's not real, people just become paranoid :)

I'll be sure to post about the results.

I completely agree, it's mass produced in a toy factory and sold in places like Wal Mart and Toys R Us.

See, that's why I'm not concerned. I'm not easily shaken up or concerned or obsessed with something. So I really don't see any trouble in this for me.

    I doubt it.

See, I'm more on the non-cautious side of the spectrum.

    <3

    Again, I entirely agree.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate all of your opinions and posts. I've decided to buy a Ouija board, and me and my girlfriend and a few of our friends are going to use at my house when we get it, probably Saturday or Sunday night. I'll be sure to post the results after extensive use. ;D

Actually you can make your own ouija board if you want to.. It doesn't necessarily have to be bought at a specific location. That being said i used it before and it was a weird experience because the board wouldn't let anyone play unless i was playing with it. After about a week i just gave it to my cousin to throw away and i never heard of it since.

Don't worry, its just a game. 1 of 2 things will happen, one of the players will move the planchette with their hands to freak everyone out, or nothing will happen.

People get freaked out by what other people say/do, when really, thats all those people are trying to do. They get a kick out of your fears.

Its up to you whether or not you believe in it, but from my perspective, its all untrue, as you can see from what I have written above.
