Why would they quit because of a simple 0.1-1% tax on duels? They're addicted. They won't quit.

I agree with @gambling_babz . I don’t see the 1% tax being something that would make the big stakers strive away from staking, nor the small ones. 1% lost from a 1b stake is 10m, from a 1m stake its 10k.

I’m gonna go on a limb and say that if you have the money to actually stake 1b, you don’t mind losing 10m to the tax in the process. Same goes for the 1m stake. Sure its a goldsink, but in my opinion it is too minor to make any change in the long run.

Are odd stakers really making that much money? I swear every time i go DA i see about 40 of them to every maxed guy staking and the rates they put up are horrible couldn't imagine they get many stakes a day, not to mention if they even win the stake since they are at a slight disadvantage. They must really rely on people seshing them and not chucking 1b winning and dipping. Anyone do it themselves if so i would love to hear more.

No. Think about how much gold the average player generates playing the game doing slayer, getting alchable drops at recs etc. the bigger osrs gets the more gold comes into the game

Why so much focus on the sand casino? If the tax is implemented is doubt it would move gold prices cuz like someone above me said they're addicted gamblers, demand/supply shouldnt drastically change.

From the demand side, raids 2 will increase huge demand from the high leveled playerbase. This is where I would look to dump off any supply.

Til raids 2 hype, i expect the price to keep dropping slowly due to goldfarming bots lasting way longer (anecdotal experience) and third world countries farming revs/vorkath/zulrah/etc.

Overall though "investing" in gp is a terrible idea if you're not heavily experienced imo.

I think the price will go up a bit when the tax is implemented. 1% of ALL stakes is a lot of gold because of just the sheer number of stakes.

Gold is crashing at an unreal rate right now, something I haven't seen for years as a gold farmer in various games. Possibly on par with the chinese gold dupe in wow that raped most farmers. I understand there is more gold in the game and a possible lack of demand but the rate it is falling and the percentage lost is way overboard for what it is.

    Fishy..

New players are unlikely to sell gold, they're still enjoying the game and need those gp. In fact, they're more likely to demand for gold due to their lack of in-game wealth. More new players = more demand = increase in gold price.

There aren't enough gold sinks in the game to ever assume gold will rise in price, it is inflating far more rapidly than any tangible currency.

I think the mobile argument leading to more RWT buyers isn't really a sound one. People introduced to RS via Mobile are going to be used to ingame MTX as the way to "pay to win" and thus will look to bonds (which jagex will HEAVILY push on mobile) and buy them as it's their "normal" way of buying stuff in mobile games.

This naturally reduces the exposure these mobile players have to RWTing as they don't know what they don't know. The mobile only player isn't aware/doesn't have the decade+ knowledge of RWT, botting etc. that most of us have. Only a few % will likely seek this stuff out.

So I guess to conclude, new mobile players (IMO) will have a very poor translation to new RWT buyers, demand won't spike enough to push GP back into Demand > Supply (whereas it's Supply >>> Demand atm).

If they somehow manage to get rid of odds stakers it will go up to at least 2$/m, but i doubt they won't find another way to do it in less than 2 days

I dont think gold price will go up much, because this is market rules,it maybe go up a little, but the big picture is still bearish with the long-term trend pointing down

Gold prices have been going up and down for years, but to answer your question, yeah prices are going to go up because of the new staking update

I don't think it's ever a good idea to buy Runescape Gold as an "investment". If you look at the trend over the long term, prices always move lower. There's so many better things to invest in. Crypto, tech stocks, your own business, etc. Buy RSGP for entertainment, save the investing for other stuff.

I highly doubt gold will rise in the near future. The only big massive swing to make it rise would be bots gone forever from the game.

There are so many stakers that this new update really did make a change they will need to sell their items to get gold and stake which will make the coins have a higher value than items
