OSRS gold prices - Good investment or will it drop further?

Hey all,
So I notice that gold is pretty cheap atm. I'm thinking its because of X'er whales dumping their stashes due to the coming duel arena updates. From sources i'm told some big sellers have too much to sell, 100B+.


With mobile release and supply reducing after time again, (maybe more demand from people now able to stake for themselves?), would you say that gold prices will rise again, or is this a market shift and we have reached a new long run price equilibrium?

If the tax on staking comes into the game the price will go up real fast.

 

Arguably stakers will just quit, dump their gold and the demand will drop again once they're gone, seeing as the tax will cost them dearly in the long run...no?
Possibly price would still rise, just not as much as you'd think.

 

If they somehow manage to get rid of odds stakers it will go up to at least 2$/m, but i doubt they won't find another way to do it in less than 2 days

 

There're a few interesting thoughts when it comes to ingame prices.

If the rumor of the staking tax will become reality I see winning (odd) stakers quit more easy. The regular players will win more and demand for buying rsgp will drop. I think stakers will balance each other out anyway no matter what the result will be.

Upward going player base (Source) will grow demand for coins. This could be balanced by new coins entering the market and have no effect on price. New coins could also outbalance the growing player base which gives a supply pressure making the price to fall.

Hopefully always fun to stake - and having to rent someones account always overshadows that.

 

we'll see in a few weeks but I doubt they will do anything to let you adjust stats. So many people complained about this. My guess is just add a 1% tax and reevaluate in a few weeks/months. If this is the case and it happens I will refer back to the post when nothing has changed in terms of the rwt situation at the arena

both of these statements are incorrect, 1) more people playing=more gold=lower prices. 2) "stake players always lose their money since it is "sand casino" literally means nothing and has nothing to do with gold prices unless you are talking about a tax

 

too much gold is being pumped in the game, and not nearly enough gold sinks to decrease or slow it down, i dont ever see 07gp going above 1$ nor 0.90$ again.

i also highly doubt that the release of osrs mobile will make the gold go up much, if at all.

 

Bogla ex owner said that osrs mobile was going to bring a way more healty market (Just in case you dont belive in my word) , and btw there are a lot of people that are adicted to spend their dollars in app games, so my first statement is right thus that doesnt mean that prices will rise again bc chinese gold companies are thinking they will get more money for cheaper prices,less risk and more money, arcus-bogla for example dont think about the impact they have on the market because other gold buyers/stores use their buying prices as compass for their respective bussiness.

 

Duel arena works the same as a casino (Even with gold sinks), just think about it.

 

i'm not even going to argue with you about this because your sentences don't make sense. More players=more gold=less value/mil. Its as simple as that. Duel arena WITHOUT a sink doesn't effect the amount of gold in the game as it is just passed around the players. WITH a sink it will take gold out of the game causing prices to rise in theory BUT ONLY IF THE SINK COMPETES WITH OTHER GOLD COMING IN. EG 1b gold sunk, 2b gold created from alching etc will not drop the price...
