I want to change my username

Please read the following rules and requirements carefully before requesting a name change:

Minor Name Change Requirements

1. Have donated a minimum of $5
2. Your Sythe account must be at least 1 year old
   
3. Your Sythe account must be in good standing for at least 3 months prior to the request (Not DNT'd or TWC'd)
   
4. You must have 2FA enabled on your Sythe account (To enable 2FA visit https://www.sythe.org/account/two-step)
   
5. You must post the request from your home IP
6. You must not have previously had a minor name change
7. The name you are requesting must NOT already be taken by another Sythe user

Spoiler: Examples of Minor Changes:

1. Removal of numbers in a name (Example: Name1224 to Name)
2. Replacement of a number in a name (Example: N4m3 to Name)
3. Removal of characters such as underscores or hyphens (Example: User_Name to User Name or UserName)
4. Capitalization or de-capitalization of a name (Example: name to Name or Name to name)
5. Removal of special characters in rare cases where the user profile glitches
6. Removal of random letters that do not add to a username (Example: UserNameAsdf to UserName, NOT UserNameGaming to UserName)
7. Minor corrections of spelling (Example: UserNmae to UserName)

Major Name Change Requirements

1. Have donated a minimum of $200 ($500 for a second major change)
   
2. Your Sythe account must be at least 1 year old (6 months for $300 donors and 3 months for $500 donors)
3. Your Sythe account must be in good standing for at least 3 months prior to the request (Not DNT'd or TWC'd)
4. You must have 2FA enabled on your Sythe account (To enable 2FA visit https://www.sythe.org/account/two-step)
   
5. You must post the request from your home IP
6. You must not have previously had a major name change unless you meet the requirements for a second one
   1. A year must have elapsed since your first name change before a second one may be approved

Additional Information

1. Inactive usernames may be released for major name changes if the user has been inactive for at least 3 years
   
2. Banned usernames may be released for major name changes provided they are inactive for at least 3 years
   1. Note that the requester must repay all debts associated with the requested username before it can be freed up
3. After a name change your User Title will be edited to reflect your previous name for 6 months unless only a capitalization or de-capitalization occurs.
4. Placeholder accounts may sometimes be created to hold previous names for 6 months, before they become available for future change requests
5. All name changes will be listed in the List of Username Changes thread unless only a capitalization or de-capitalization occurs.
   
6. Staff reserve the right to deny a name change request for any reason.

Essentially for a minor name change you must be a $5 donor at minimum and $200 donor for a major name change.
