    "Melting Pot"

I question, is the "melting pot" concept still happening in America's society? Or is it something unachievable, due to those unwilling to change their beliefs, values, and traditions?

As more immigrants come to the United States, will this inevitably occur in future years?

The melting pot is a terrible concept. I, for one, would not want to melt my values into the colorless slop we call American culture. Diversity is one of the beauties of our world.

This answer to this question is yes and no. Will some immigrants fall into the melting pot and assimilate into american culture? yes. Will all of them? no. So yes it is stilll happening but it will never ever be a total melting pot as humans by nature are born unique. It is impossible to fully block diversity.

What values would you be melting to join an American culture? The American culture is one of the most diverse there is.

The very concept of the melting pot IS that all values are melted down...

When the OP posted the definition from Wikipedia he left out the last paragraph. America is not a melting pot, but a salad bowl.

    Can you not read?

Are culture is not a melted down one. There are very few American foods. We eat at alot of Oriental, Mexican, Italian, and French restaurant. Then you have your french fries and pizza, which are all just foreign foods that are Americanized. We play many foreign sports, and are language is 70% derived from another language. The politically correct term for the United States is a salad bowl.

America always allows any, and all to the country. A place where religion, wealth, or color doesn't determine your place. Yes, there is racism, but that doesn't come from the countries government, it comes from the people. The melting pot is based off of the governments sentiment. If you're legally here, you're welcomed, and welcome to stay.
