Origin Related - Wireless - Not Connected, Connections are available

    Hey,

I have been having an error where on Windows 7, it says down the bottom right that I am not connected, but connections are available, when I am clearly online right now and it says im connected. It has the 4 grey bars with a yellow asterix on top.

Now, the reason this annoys me so, is because I believe this is the reason why Origin comes up with an error saying "You must be online the first time when logging in". I have no clue what is wrong with it.

Can anyone help me, as I want to play battlefield 3 soon and it requires origin to run.

Try the following steps to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Download the latest network adapter driver from the manufacturer website and install it in compatible mode. If the issue persists, please temporarily disable the adapter and re-enable it again for a test.

    2. Verify relevant service

    a. Click "Start", go to run, type "services.msc" (without quotation marks) in the open box and press Enter.
    b. Click Continue button to verify the administrator permission.
    c. Right click the "Network Location Awareness" service and choose Properties.
    d. On General tab click Start.
    e. Choose Automatic next to Startup type.
    f. Click OK.

    3. Restart the computer in Safe Mode with Networking for a test.

    Good luck.

Can you explain what Origin is?

I'm interested to see what your msconfig looks like as well. Are you connecting through a router? I'm assuming it is wireless since you're saying connections are available. Do you have access to your router settings?

Can you post screenshots of your msconfig for me. In the start menu, in the search bar, type "msconfig" and hit enter. Then navigate over to the startup tab and take screenshots of that. Post them here, would you?

Yer I've tried that, all settings were already right.

Interesting note, I used my mates plugin wifi, and I could connect to Origin.

origin is basically EA's download manager.
What page of services do you want me to ss?

I understand now. Origin is probably being blocked by your router's firewall. Because having a router firewall and pc firewall is mostly redundant (pc firewall is generally much better than router) I'd suggest just disabling your router firewall. What type of router do you use and do you know how to do router administration?

Ports needed opened for origin (TCP and UDP) (note that port 80 is for HTTP traffic and 443 is for SSL traffic):
    TCP ports:

    80
    443
    9960-9969
    1024-1124
    18000
    18120
    18060
    27900
    28910
    29900

    UDP ports:

    1024-1124
    18000
    29900
