Opt in for alerts on edited posts

I think having the option to receive alerts regarding edited posts on your created threads could be helpful. I can also see how this could get annoying with someone editing a spelling error, but maybe the alert wouldn't show up unless the edit took place X amount of time after it was posted. Also having the ability to turn these alerts off could prevent this annoyance.

The main reason for this being to prevent spam on someone's thread.
Say someone is requesting a signature and you submit an option. You want to add another option for them to see, but don't want to create more posts/spam on their thread. A notification could show up instead possibly something along the lines of, "(User) has edited a post on (thread)". This could also be used for bidding on accounts; Editing your offers.

If this is something that could simply be implemented, I think it'd be a nice feature. However, with the option to message the person, you could obviously cut around this. Granted, that's always an option, but I think it's beneficial to both the buyer and the seller to have their submissions shown publicly.

This could be more trouble than it's worth, but I'd love to hear your input.

The easiest way to implement this would be to have an alert show up if you edit a post and tag (user). Would eliminate the annoyance of constant alerts from edited posts and would give the user an alert.

 

That would be an odd option to add. I for one edit my posts a lot so I could see this being bothersome and unnecessary.

 

i feel that with the coding involved with doing a project like this would take to much time and money. You have to remember they have to hire somone to put these effects in. I dont really think this is a good idea only because of how much time it would take for the develmental community to make this but great suggestions

 

I'm actually intrigued in this idea because I do edit my posts a lot, although I have no idea whether it's physically possible to create and implement.

If it is easy to implement and if it doesn't take up much time I would love to see this as a feature.
