    Online schooling

I'm contemplating starting online school. I'm a junior in high school and every day is just dreadfully boring, long, and I'm not learning anything and still passing classes. There are a lot of dumb rules and useless stuff that are just unbearable. I'm wondering if anyone could list (preferably first hand experience) the pros/cons of online school.

and no i'm not a social reject who has no friends and sits all alone at lunch or gets picked on etc.

I took a few online courses during highschool and it was pretty cool. The major benefit of online schooling is that you can work from your computer at home, and you can also pretty much fit your homework and lessons into your schedule as you please. They are pretty flexible with deadlines and such, so you can totally adjust it according to your schedule.

The bad side is that you don't get that same social aspect that you experience in public school.

Yes. I would have rather done public schooling, but there were courses that I had to drop in order to take other courses with in-class time, and therefore I ended up having to do some online courses at the same time as I was finishing up all my credits for my grad year. I had a full year to do the courses, rather than just one semester, and I just chipped away at the homework when I had extra time or when I felt like it. The work was also considerably easier than the stuff I was getting in class.

I'm not entirely sure what the experience would be like if you were fully home schooled and doing everything online, but I imagine it would be pretty laid back and low stress compared to being in class.

I didn't fail anything or graduate early... lol. Let me try to explain again... Basically, in my grad year I had too many courses to do, and not enough slots to do them (probably because I took more spares then other kids because I was also working in a restaurant and getting home at 1 or 2 am everynight and needed to sleep in a bit in the mornings). So because I wanted to still graduate on time with everybody else in my grade, I had to take an extra large courseload.. We would do 4 classes per semester, 2 semesters in a year (8 courses total). In my grad year, I did 10 courses total. I did 8 in-class courses, and chose the ones that I needed in-class instruction for, for subjects like math that aren't really my strength. I did English 12 and History 12 through an out of school, online program that allowed me to go online and I had an online textbook, and a list of all the assignments for each unit that needed to be completed in order to finish the course. Rather than have half a year to do each class (like a normal class at school), I had a full year to work on them as I pleased, whenever I wanted, and adjust those courses to my schedule around work and school.

What I am trying to say is that I quite enjoyed it. The work was easy, and it was very laid back and so I had no deadlines the way I did in school. The downside though, is that if you did ALL your classes online, you would not have the social aspect that public school does.

    Understand now?

I cant remember the website I used. I had to go down to a local school that you register with for distance learning, and they got my online account set up and provided a website that I worked through. You will probably have to do something similar..

I don't think there is such thing as a universal schooling website where you can just go to start doing online courses. I would speak with somebody at your school, or do some research about your local community and find out if there is a place you go to sign up for distance learning.

i've done many online courses and it it probably the best thing that i could've done in my life, saves a ton of time and the hassle of getting up at a certain time etc, makes you take things more seriously.
