Just a logo I made for Blackout Entertainment Group.


And this one for a different company.


I'm thinkin' the gradient was a fail.

I love the top one, the bottom text is a bit hard to read though. Did you do this in paint or ps?

 

Photoshop. And the text is hard to read because it's blue, on a blue background. Under normal conditions it would be easier to read.

 

did you get paid for this, or just did it for a freind?

 

Well my brother got the actual assignment. He was payed $100 per logo. I just shadowed his assignment for practice.

That bottom one is worth more then $100. Is he a freelancer?

 

Those are amazing, You and your brother are both amazing at GFX, I know you're going to go far in life if you pursue a career in it.

 

A logo is supposed to created in such a way that it can be viewed both monochromatically, black and white, and in color and still look good, yours rely on special effects like the outer glow, drop shadow, etc. Notice how your brothers are made in a way they look good without color, yet color can be added to boost the look, without actually relying on the color.

It has to be possible to resize a logo to fit from a huge banner down to something small like a business card or pen, this is possible with your brothers but not quite as much with yours. His first is simple yet effective, although I believe he could make the text larger without losing effect, but the bottom one doesn't play as well in small sizes as with the large.

I'd suggest learning about effective logo design rather then applying a bunch of techniques for online display to something intended for print.

 

Yeah I have little to no experience creating logos, but I'm practicing. My brother uses Adobe Illustrator to maintain high quality and adjustment. I also need to keep in mind that sometimes simplicity is greater than effects.

No he works for a designing company, I forget the name but I'll ask him later. It's a small business in Tampa, FL. And sometimes he makes over $300 on a single logo. I ask him, why the hell do such simple logos cost so much? And he tells me that it's not the effort put into making the logo, it's the creativity of the design he comes up with that costs so much. Not everyone can think up of an effective logo that's appealing to almost any audience. That is why graphic design may get into the high price range regardless of the effort put into it.
