User Education Presents - SytheMonthly November Edition

For the October Edition, please look here.

First off, I'd like to apologize for being unable to make it into a PDF, I was without my laptop for the whole month, and the computer I am using currently does not have the software to do that. Again I apologize, and it is my fault, not the fault of anyone on the UE team.

It'll be shown as a thread.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Tyro Interview by Hahanerd
    HHN: How's it goin', Tyro?

    Tyro: Fine, you?

HHN: Not too bad. If it's okay with you, I'm going to be interviewing you for November's Sythe Monthly. How did you hear about Sythe.org?

Tyro: I seem to recall searching for something Runescape related and ending up on Realpoor. One of traders there said he'd only trade with an official middleman from Sythe.org.

HHN: What did you think of Sythe at first? How did you 'get involved' around the forums and the community?

Tyro: I remember being impressed with a few staff members. When I found Sythe I rarely used the computer, and when I did I'd just log onto Shawn's IRC. I didn't sign up for a while and when I finally did I didn't use the forums much.

HHN: When you joined Sythe, what interested you the most?

Tyro: I never used the market, but I joined the UE team and participated in some SfA discussions.

HHN: SfA - That reminds me, explain the first time you were promoted to a sectional mod.

Tyro: Ah, I was in the IRC at the time. By now Shawn was gone so I was invested more in the forum than the IRC. Finn sent me a message telling me to get on MSN, so I logged on. He asked me if I wanted to be a Market Mod. I remember thinking it was odd, as I had posted twice in the market.

HHN: Haha. It seemed that you were doing very well as a Market Mod. You were promoted to Global Mod fairly quickly. Do you think there was a reason for this?

Tyro; Sin resigned, and for whatever reason I was promoted unanimously. Speculatively, I'd guess I fooled them into thinking I was intelligent and Sin's departure prompted the promotion of a few rational people.

HHN: Interesting. Almost every Sythe user has had someone who just absolutely loves them or hates them. Do any particular user(s) come into mind?

Tyro: I always got along well with Darren and Shawn. I was a bit less reasonable then, and Verts and NickV absolutely hated me. (Verts banned me from the IRC for a few months, and NickV -- then "You_Jew" -- promised to leave Sythe if I was ever promoted.)

    HHN: Lol. Any particular reason?

Tyro: I was a troll when I first joined. I think the defining moments were when I told Verts that she had to "speak the way Americans do because we trounced you in the war." and when I registered a slew of usernames on the IRC and ghosted them regularly even after NickV banned me from the channel.

HHN: That's great, haha. I'm assuming Shawn_ was the IRC 'leader' at the time. How were your relations with him?

Tyro: I'm trying to remember if he was dead by the time I registered on Sythe. I think my bad behavior was prompted by his death; I was very childish about it. When he was alive I was an op on his channel because he liked me.

HHN: Oh, I personally wasn't around when Shawn was active on the forums/IRC. How does it feel to be an administrator now?

Tyro: No different, really. Just a bit easier to fix problems.

HHN: Problems? What do you mean?

Tyro: Little things like user-titles not being updated for weeks. I spent a little while and made it so sectionals could change their own user-titles in most cases. So far I haven't run into any big problems during my administration (for lack of a better word). Let's unrealistically hope that continues. In all honesty, my job is made very easy; we have a great team assembled.

    HHN: Thanks!

First Personal Support Moderator! by FishFishy
Just recently history has been made at sythe.org! On November 9th For the first time ever it was announced that we would have our very own personal support and assistance moderator!(Thread can be seen here: http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=948770) The person that was to be chosen had to be a nice, and friendly person that knows how to deal with peoples everyday situations. I don't think that anyone was surprised to see Gohanforever (also known as Marcell) the one chosen for the job.

Chances are that you already know Gohanforever, but if you haven't meet him yet then you will soon find out that he is a very kind and friendly person. He has always been active in these forums ready to help a fellow member out, and I think that's one of the major reasons he was selected for the job in the first place. Also for anyone who hasn't met Gohanforever yet, then I suggest that you try and talk to him some time when you get the chance. You won't regret taking the chance of talking to him, and more than likely you will even leave the conversation with a new friend.

As far as breaking records, and making history on sythe go Gohanforever is no stranger. For a long time Gohan held the record for most post on the forums. Gohan held the record with over 10,000 post, but was just recently passed by pen when he decided to add the post he had before sythe.org was hacked. I also believe that Gohan has won quite a few of the friendliest user of the month awards in the past.

To sum it all up I think that everyone is happy to now have a personal assistance moderator introduced into these forums. Now we will have a person dedicated to helping out users, and making sure everything runs smoothly in that particular section. Also since gohan has been introduced as a moderator to the section a new feature has come out that allows you to post threads and post anonymously. Also to finish up my article I would like to wish Marcell the best of luck with his new role in these forums! It may not seem that hard to you, but actually taking the time to deal with people's real-life problems can often be hard to handle. Anyways on behalf of the forums we wish you the best of luck, and we hope to see only the best from you!

    Finn Resignation by Gregislacrosse
Long time Admin and Head Official Middle Man Finn resigned on November 18th. He had been looking to resign for a while, but was unsure of certain staff members, but now feels the staff is at a strong point with newly appointed admin Tyro. He says he is looking to pursue some greater goals with his life, move on from sythe, and use his free time differently. He is looking forward to leaving his town in england, and get on with life and attend Cambridge University. Finn was a member since 07, had an accepted Official Middle Man Application in November of 07, was promoted to Market mod May 10th 2008, was then promoted to global on July 21st 2008 and originally became an admin back in March of 09, but retired in late June, but came back late July. According to Finn he will be lurking around sythe, and coming back to visit every now and then, mostly to post in the personal support & assistance section. Everyone on sythe wishes him the best as he pursues his endeavours.

    Blupig Demoted by Cosrob97
Blupig, ex-global moderator was recently striped of his global moderator rank and powers – due to helping run Grave’s (A banned users) website. Grave’s ban was requested by Sythe for associating with bad members. At the time, Blupig had no idea why he was demoted and created a high pardon explaining some plausible reason of his demotion (none of which were right). After finding out that he was demoted for help running Grave’s site – he made a farewell thread, as he can’t help out Sythe as much with moderator powers. Many users posted saying, "it was stupid reason, that's a bad reason for demotion", but as it was an administrator decision it cannot be over turned unless the administrators’ decided to. Since then, Blupig has posted a couple times; usually in the spam forum, but as he said in his farewell thread, “I won’t be very active anymore”. We now say goodbye to Blupig, moderator from 22/11/08-30/10/2010.

    Three Staff Demotion by Gregislacrosse
After being global moderator for since November 25th of 2009, HeavenLord had his global perms taken away, and was solely a HUE. After terrible activity he was relinquished of his HUE perms as well on October 30th. He explains the reasoning behind his inactivity as a priority to schoolwork, and one of the hardest years of his high school life. He says he hopes to return as a mod possibly this summer when he has more free time.

Just four days after being promoted to market moderator on November 4th, Djweasel was demoted from moderator. The demotion had personal ties to Administrator Finn. Little is known about the situation, and Djweasel is angered by the situation. After rage quiting after the demotion, Djweasel hopes he can return a valuable member to the Sythe community.

Hours after being promoted to Runescape Mod, Gantza Freak was banned for interest in hacking and key-loggers on another site. The report came in from a sythe account that was created for the sole purpose of displaying this information. There was clear cut information, with matching msns, and emails on to a member posting about hacking, and key-logging other people. Gantza did not even have a chance to log into sythe as a moderator before he was banned.

Thanks to everybody who contributed, and sorry, I know it isn't the same without the layout and stuff, but hopefully we can deliver something really special for the month of December to end the year on a good note! Sorry to those who archive these, :(

Thanks to the Ue members (and of course Marrow) who have worked on this for the past 2 months. It's a great initiative.

    Very good work, guys.

Also, if you want to make it look neater - I suggest putting the quote tags around every new article. It make the thread more spaced out and not 1 giant blob of text.

Read it all. It was okay. Maybe next time you can include something that isnt about moderation, and also something interactive with the reader could work well.
