Oh, THAT'S Why Ranked is Unbearable

I have some friends who pulled off a 50-0 challenger team after placing in diamond III. It's pretty ridiculous.

 

There's already a huge difference between low diamond and challenger 3v3 players. A friend of mine who's multi-team challenger in 3s almost always places in diamond III - diamond II after five games because his MMR is so high.

 

Elo hell does not exist you are just bad.

Part of the game is teamwork, and teamwork means you have to make sacrifices and cooperate with your team. If your mid doesn't want you taking his cs then don't do it, sure it might not be the best decision, but i'd rather miss a couple cs to a tower then have him raging the entire game and having him possibly go afk.

I have had no problem carrying games in really low elo despite everyone claiming that trolls and afkers make it impossible.

 

I think you are a bit close minded when it comes to what ELO Hell exactly is. More or less ELO Hell just describes youre current state in ranked gameplay that is quite frustrating and difficult to get out of due to unskilled players, leavers/AFKers, people who don't care, etc. This is quite the opinionated question. If say youre a Diamond level player and are in a bronze level game. Of course you're not going to be in ELO Hell for it is extremely easy for you to carry players because you are significantly better than other people. Now lets say compared to everyone in your games you're around 10% better. Now theoretically you should eventually be able to get yourself out whatever level of play youre in seeing as you are better. The issue is that leavers and afkers make the time needed to do this that much greater which does make it a lot more annoying and frustrating. In that sense there is definitely ELO Hell. ELO Hell may just be quite different for someone else.

 

You don't get plat with placement matches unless you already have plat MMR. The guys I was teamed with had bad Rift MMR's, but we're good at executing the gameplay style on Treeline. Our highest-ranked placement match was like Silver III. We made it into Gold IV with them.

You, sir, are exactly my point about the League community. You have no idea how to read more than 10 words in an entire post. I was't complaining about their skill; I was complaining about the toxic sludge that pours out of everyone's mouth... including yours. (Note: I took CS mid only while he was at the fountain. The CS "stealing" was, more or less, to keep the tower from being dropped pre-10 minutes and letting both our blue and red go for free grabs. The fact that you have no notion of tower control in order to influence buffs and jungle presence makes me really doubt your claims of "carrying" your team.)

Secondly, again I never insinuated that ELO hell existed as a skill void. In fact, most of us in the thread are talking about how "ELO Hell" is the state of toxic dumbasses, and I think the consensus is that it's worse in gold and plat.

I know plenty about "tower control" and buffs and everything, that's why I said "even though it may not be the best decision", if someone doesn't want you doing something you probably shouldn't just to help the team and influence cooperation.

 

I think you make a perfect example of what KerokeroCola was making a post on. Apparently they are 'bad' for having an opinion when I can only assume you have never played a game with this person.

Secondly, how is Kerokero bad for taking farm that would would have otherwise been wasted to a tower? Because the mid laner would rather the jungler not take 'his' farm? All this shows is that the mid laner doesn't know what holding a tower means, which doesn't make him very knowledgeable. How does last hitting otherwise dead minions cause any issues? It gives the jungler exp and farm, which helps THE TEAM.

Judging by your posts I will just assume you are in the mix of people the first post is referring to.

 

(Just to point out, the "wasted farm" wasn't my concern. I really didn't want their fed Annie to be able to roam to my blue without having a tower there.)

 

Update: after following superman's advice and muting everybody (essentially, they are minions to me), I've won the last 6 ranked games in a row. So yeah, muting is a thing.

 

How can you carry a game in the situation where the prime positions (adc, mid, even top .. ) are being called in order and you're left as support leona. No chance you're carrying any games bro. Oh you just 'take' adc anyway? Great, suddenly you've turned the whole match into a troll game and nobody is playing seriously. Elo Hell EXISTS, but mainly in soloq, for me every game I win in silver, is because I am in the 1st two picks otherwise everything goes to shit.

 

Leona is much, much better suited for duos and ranked 5s. When I don't get a carry role, I play Janna with around an 80-90% win rate in Silver. Supporting lower tiers is a lot about making calls for your team.

Since my MMR is so high, I'm Bronze I in Gold V and IV matches for the most part. Needless to say, I'm always last pick and usually the support. I've found that Zyra "support" carry is my favorite. Noobs don't have any idea how to position. If I convince my tank to be more aggressive, I can usually get their retarded assassins to jump on him. Then, viola: double seed, E, Q, R, and all of a sudden it's a 3v5.

Leona support is NOT very good at carrying a match. In terms of damage, she hits the ceiling hard by about level 11, and if you don't get fed with assists, her engages just result in a suicide mission. Backline supports are a little more viable in yoloQ because you don't need to get fed to still do a ton of damage from the safety of the back line.

 

Yep, Zyra's another monster. She and Thresh are probably the top solo queue supports, at least in my opinion. I just love Janna, and she's my best support, too

 

I've found Nami is also a great support, if you can land her skillshot and pull out a tsunami at the right time it can really change teamfights.

 

Seeing as Zyra was the most-picked LCS worlds champion, it's hard to deny her OP status. (50 picks or bans in 63 games; Shen was actually the most if you count bans, being 61 out of 63.)

 

zyra is good but her poke potential was significantly nerfed in the last patch. however her crowd control and base damage from plants per level are still very powerful for a support.

 

Zyra's poke was never really that amazing, in my opinion. Her early-game mana issues kind of hurt, and if I wanted a poke support there are much better options.

Zyra's overall kit is just amazing, though. She can zone really well in lane, especially against noobs, and there's almost noone better who can set up a gank after level 6.

 

Sweet mother of...Rengar. If you want to win in low ELO, learn to play Rengar :3

So far, I'm 17-0 on my friend's account in Silver III. Working on my 18th straight win now. Hehe
