    I am shit scared.

Sorry in advance on my iPod.

Basically I'm a reasonably smart person but over the past ten years have put work off and it's too late, GCSEs are in a month and I've left it too late, I could get a* across the board yet I'm getting C's and D's. I dunno what to do and it's all just sunk in. I'm here writin this crying, panicking at what's coming, what's going to happen. I feel as if this is the only opportunity to prove myself and I've gone and fucked it up. What should I do?

They are exams, the ones which decide which college, what jobs etc. If you mess these up you're stuck forever.

    I am shit scared.

What subjects are you taking, and what topics are you being examined on?

You probably have left it too late, however don't give up hope; thats the worst thing you can do.

If you muck these up you aren't screwed up for life. I'm taking my GCSEs too (English lit/lang, maths, 3 sciences, geog, RE, IT, French) and I'm also worrying but, if you muck up, it mainly only affects what A level choices you have. It's mainly the A level results that employers and universities look at. If you were previously getting A*s and have slipped have a word with your teachers or Senior Education Team (whoever you think has authority basically) and explain the situation. Even if you fail your GCSEs (which is highly unlikely) you can still be granted the oppurtunity to take A levels and, if you knuckle down, you can still achieved your desired results.

Don't worry about it too much, it's not as bad as you're making yourself think it is.

Also, when revising don't do a lot spread out. Focus on areas that you think you need to work on and make sure you understand before you move on. Set yourself questions and short essays to write (sounds a bit keen I know but it will help) and set times to do them in. STICK TO THESE TIMES. Make sure you have a few hours inbetween work sessions too. You'll soon improve, and if you're not just ask your teachers to explain it after class. It should click if you're not understanding, and then you can focus on making it a basic fact that you can easily recall.

Don't let this get you down, colleges determine acceptance by many factors! Yes they look at what grades you have and what activities you have signed up for, but they also listen to teachers and family so get recommendation letters!

    I am shit scared.

I messed up my GCSE's aswell. They only really help for getting into a good college/sixth form. Uni's only really look at your GCSE results if your A level results aren't that good.

Try your best and revise as much as you can in a month. I would advise you to concentrate on English, maths and science more than other subjects.

I messed up my GCSE's mate, got two C's rest D's E's and even a G in Spanish hehe, im 19 now and going to University this September! Your young (16?) don't worry there are plenty of opportunities to turn it around, it's as easy a pie these days to do GCSE's, A level and even degrees from your own home!. Believe me I thought i was screwed and was going to be stuck in a dead end job for rest of my life :)

    1) You know youre mistake. You know youre capable of working.
    2) Get yourself together.

This is how you should revise:

    - Do past papers. These are the key to your revision. They tell you how the questions will be asked, and how you should answer them.
    - Do about 7-8 hours work a day.
    - Ask your teachers on hints about whats coming up.
    - I will gaurantee you if you do past papers, and concentrate mainly on the areas that are likely to come up, you will do fine.

Concentrate on your English, Science and Maths mainly as they are the core subjects and hence bear heavier weighting in comparison to the others.

    I am shit scared.

I had gotten very good grades right until my final year of GCSE's.
Did our mocks, and had like 1 A, 2 Bs and the rest were Cs and Ds which was relatively bad for myself.

I did mainly past papers the night before every exam (i did IGCSE's which are international gcse's = harder standard than regular gcse's). I got 1 A*, 2 A's, 3B's, 3 C's. Passed everything; now onto college/sixth form doing:

    - Maths (Predicted C)
    - Physics (Predicted E TROLOLO)
    - Computing (Predicted B)
    - ICT (Predicted A)
    - Arabic (Predicted A)

If I can carry AAB to uni i should be okay i guess but idk lol
just chill out, and remember, the grade boundaries at GCSE aren't 80% for an A or whatveer rubbish your teachers tell you.
Higher Maths for example is about 55-70% for an A depending on how difficult the exam is etc.

I appreciate the posts being in such depth and you guys have really helped me cool down and get my head round this! If I could I would personally hug everyone of you (if you wanted ;) ). But what else should I do apart from past papers, im good at science ad get a* quite often (.without revision in mock papers) just in worried about English, maths, re, French and a couple others (probs Chem to.) if anyone has any sites with videos I do like them :)

    I am shit scared.

I'm actually in a very similar situation.
I'm sitting around 11 IGCSE's in a month or so also.
I never worked hard, don't even know if I will for these.
Don't worry, just.. Chill a bit.
    Just make sure you work.

Just take a step back from everything and look at what you need to do. Make a plan and commit to it. When it comes time for the exams you should know more information.

    I am shit scared.

BBC bitesize was what i used back in the day. They have some good stuff.
Start practicing your maths because that comes overtime.

The theory subjects youll need to learn. But like i said, the past papers will help you the most because you can concentrate on what areas you need to learn and how you answer them. That will save you time.

You should maybe record yourself when you are doing your theory and listen to your recordings when youre walking around or travelling. It sounds awkward when youre reading this but trust me it works REALLLY well.
