A woman whom starved herself to death 6 years after she was paraylsed

The title is partially bullshit, in which they say she did it because of her boyfriend. ( Her boyfriend was only one reason, but not the full reason ) based on her entry on her blog : http://lifeparalyzed.blogspot.com/

I still am left with shock after reading this. I'm filled with so many mixed emotions. I try to imagine myself in a similar situation - it's so scary, it's so dark.

Personally my aunt is paralysed from her chest down and she faces many many complications. It happened 1.5 yrs ago but currently she still has to go in and out of the hospital due to many existing problems, it's crazy and totally exhausting on her.

Just wanted to share this to remind us all to appreciate life more..

Starving herself... I cannot imagine how grueling that must have been.

 

That was truly heartwrenching to read

My uncle was paralyzed almost 15 years ago during a car accident in Vancouver, and he lost the use of his arms & legs, and anything else below his neck. He was ultimately pretty positive about his situation towards the end, but when he eventually died of a deadly blood infection he contracted during an operation 9 years after his accident, my family was torn with mixed emotions. It was the weirdest death we have had in the family so far, as we were very upset over his sudden death, yet also so relieved that he was finally released from being a prisoner in his own body and went off to a better place.

I don't think any of us can even CLOSE to comprehend the daily struggles that a quadriplegic person goes through. I have always regarded that as one of my biggest fears in life, to end up imprisoned in my own body and having to live such an unnatural, medically supported life every single breathing moment, and being completely dependant on those around you for assistance for literally everything.

This story was extremely upsetting for me to read, but I hope that Christina is off in a better place and that she is finally free. I also pray for Jimmy, and that he can eventually learn to accept the reality of the situation, move on, and find love again with another amazing woman.

 

totally this man. my greatest fears are similar to yours too. I can't imagine myself surviving if i were to be paraylsed from neck down or if i were to lose my sight. It's so scary to even think about it, which is why i try to avoid imagining it as a possible scenario. But i know i should try my best to prepare myself while it's still early, just in case misfortune falls on me.

PS : Your uncle must have gone through alot... RIP. :'(

 

Mhm, very painful indeed. Very heart wrenching story, as Zerkerfist mentioned.

 

She is truly a selfless person. I applaud her selflessness, but still her actions were drastic.

 

Makes sense to me. If only most women had hearts like that.

 

Alot of news website is posting fake bs articles, is sad that few womens have a mind like that, most are just self fish in my opinion...

 

That is funny that you mention losing your sight as being one of your biggest fears (in an ironic way), because just last night I was watching a foreign horror movie called "Julia's Eyes" about a woman with a generative disease that leaves her blind, and of course there is a killer stalking her lol. Anyways, way off topic. My point is that I was thinking about it during the movie and that would also be so horrible, I don't think I could handle living in darkness like that.

And thank you for the kind words about my Uncle. He definitely went through alot but I just try and think that he is in a better place now, or free from his bodily prison at the very least.

Shit happens, don't see how this is different from any other death. Death is tragic in any form. It's the circle of life. Just got to continue living.

 

when something gets so hard to live with most people choose to not live with it at all. And yes this had to be a horrible thing to go threw. People these days complain if they haven't eaten in 6 hours or even less and yet this lady went days untell the malnutrition ended everything. personally idk how i would handle this but going through anything takes guts and this lady had them.
