    Rubbing Off Dead Skin

In my country, we occasionally go to a sauna/public bath (yeah everybody's naked) and scrub off our dead skins (out of the tub) once our body is heated up enough.

If you've tried rubbing your skin after a shower, you'd know what I mean.

It's a bit of a weird subject but do anybody else out there do this?

I mean, I feel a bit lighter and "cleaner" after doing so.

Only my feet and my hands to be honest. I spend most of my time sailing so my hands are always peeling from pulling ropes etc and my feel are always peeling from spending long days in wet shoes. Nowhere else though. :p Oh and definitely not in public, just in my bathroom. :L

Never scrubbed off my dead skin like that and as far as I'm aware, there are no such public places out here to do so.

This topic reminds me of the movie "Gattica" where the main character has to go in that incinerator thing in his house and scrub off all his dead skin flakes with this bristly brush every day, to minimize the risk of dropping dead skin flakes anywhere and having his identity discovered (due to DNA match).

    I thought of this also.

And no, I don't rub off my dead skin.

My mom (Middle eastern) had sort of a rock that she srubbed her feet with and claimed it was the only way to be 100% sure your feet are clean.

personally i dont do anything about it, think i get rid of most of it with daily showers :D

That's how his culture is. It may seem weird to you but it's completely normal.

I shower and rub my entire body but I do not take special time to remove "dead skin" as it's been proven that if you wash your skin too much then it removes necessary oils/nutrients and actually causes many negative health effects.

Well in the U.S., we just do this thing called exfoliation and you can do it by yourself in a shower with a loofah...so that usually works pretty well. People also go to spas to get facials which helps exfoliate and clear the skin of blemishes.

    No public baths/saunas necessary.

I'm an American athlete and I can tell you that most of us do scrub off our dead skin. With athletics usually comes a string of calluses on the hands or feet depending on the sport. They become uncomfortable and we use a pumice stone to rub off the dead skin that's accumulated around the area. So yes, we do rub off our dead skin to some extent

Careful, it could be the inverse of that. :p

This makes me want to watch Gattica now really, had it on my HDD for a while but never gotten round to it.

They do this in Korea? I've never heard of this or done it myself, and certainly not in a public place I'd say

I don't do it on purpose but sometimes when I get out of the shower I'll dry off something such as my feet and some dead skin will rub off.

It's completely normal, we could say the same to you guys wearing shoes indoors :p

It doesn't have to be in public, you can do it in your own house. But we just go to those public baths because we like huge bathtubs without anyone swimming in it haha

    (yeah the water is filtered.)

This is probably what I'm talking about.

    Feels good, doesn't it?

That's what the common use of saunas are for, although you usually go in there to sweat off the dead skin cells etc and then take a shower to clean everything off.

I'm not sure whether that's similar to your situation where you scrub/rub it off.

Not sure if it's just that our bodies were built differently, but that doesn't work for us lol.
We sweat to rub/scrub the skin off

Since when is exfoliating a taboo? Some of you talk about it like it's a crime.

Yeah exactly, pumice stones are pretty common. My guess is that a good amount of sythe uses pumice stones, but don't consciously know they are rubbing off skin.

I live in U.S.A, and have never done this. The closest I have came to doing this would be coming back from the beach, being sunburnt, and rolling my my sleep causing the peeling skin to come off.
