Not sure if I've been scammed?

Yesterday I bought 3 online CD keys from somebody and paid $40 USD for them all. MOP BC and Cata and all seemed to work at the time but my account was locked today and they told me that the BC key wasn't applied right and that the online CD key wasn't paid for? I don't really understand that but it's been taken off my account and they've told me to buy another one.

Is this common for WoW Keys? I'm not sure what's going on because I'm getting this when I log into my wow account

Yesterday that was gone and now it's back, they didn't say anything about the MOP upgrade key or BC key but they're not on my account anymore as here

Also yesterday when the keys worked it told me that I had upgraded all the way to Mist Of Panda and now it's gone?

So did I get scammed or what lol?

The keys have been claimed back due to a payment issue. I'm guessing whoever originally bought the key sold them to you, then went to Blizzard Support and said "my keys don't work and I have proof that I originally bought them" and Blizzard would have naturally taken them off your account for him.

So yeah, you were most likely scammed.

Do I have the right to chargeback the payment then? I bought them via paypal from a member here.

Try and get in contact with the person beforehand. Guessing you've already done this.

If you feel you've been scammed (and given what's happened with the keys it definitely sounds like it you have been), then just do a chargeback and file a scam report on Sythe. If he comes back with "the keys work fine" then make sure you have proof on hand ready.

I see this happen with Steam A LOT, it basically means there is a problem with the payment for them OR they were originally bought elsewhere and have been claimed back.

I would try contacting them first. Give them 24 hours to respond, then charge back. You do have 45 days to chargeback on PayPal.

But make sure you ATTEMPT contact first. Maybe the keys were illegally obtained? Maybe something happened that was strange, i.e. bought key in alabama, used in canada.

Try to contact, if he/she doesn't respond within 24 hours, chargeback and file a report a scammer claim.

If it was a simple stupid issue on Blizzards' end, than you can easily send them the $40 again after you get a new key.

Yeah post a report and uh... chargeback shouldn't be a problem if you go with the virtual items excuse and post Skype logs or whatever.

Okay thanks for the advice, he went offline straight away after I sent the $40 to him and he hasn't been online since, I've sent him a few offline messages in hopes that he replies.. Seems like I've been totally scammed though if what you're saying is true about the keys. :/

If that is how you feel, just charge back now. If he hasn't answered your offline messages, he is probably not going to anytime soon.

Just charge back and report. If it comes down to it and mods favor with him, you can also cancel the chargeback/refund.

make sure you read on how to file a proper chargeback.

That's what I'm a little bit confused about, I've never done a chargeback before, if someone could PM me the best way to get my money back like 99% I would really appreciate it. Apparently Paypal doesn't support virtual goods and I don't know what else to say, I know calling them is probably the best option.

Just double check with the Sythe Staff in your Scam Report if you can charge back. You don't wanna get nailed for scamming if it turns out it's all a mistake. If you notify the staff, they'll know of the situation and if things get pear shaped you can prove you had permission.

Chloecat has a reputation and with a scam report if she feels scammed, she wouldn't be penalized I think. With the pictures posted I feel as though this would be a valid situation to charge back. You also do not want to risk waiting TOO long.

Chloecat, put in a dispute and say they had the item taken back. Call their support number as well. Be aware though, if the other two keys still work, the staff may make you pay a portion of the $$ back.

Yes that's allowed under the counter-scamming clause (providing you have proof the guy scammed you).

Not sure if I've been scammed?

I've opened a dispute today because he still hasn't been online, also all keys were taken off of my account because I couldn't level past level 20 until I actually bought it via the blizzard website. Thanks for all the advice guys, I just opened up a dispute saying I haven't received my item, hope I get my money back.

Well like I said PayPal aren't too big on virtual goods trades (I already told you what happened with my cases in the past).

He hasn't been online + the keys have obviously been revoked so its pretty clear he's scammed you now. With PayPal I would just stick to the story that 'I never got what I paid for' which in theory is true as you don't have your purchase anymore.

Since you filed as Item not received, all the seller has to do is prove it was for a virtual trade, which if you bought from a website he'll just give them the site url.

She didn't get it from a website. PayPal don't support virtual trades, so there's not much choice on what to do really.

if it's item not received paypal doesn't refund the buyer once it's proven to be for a virtual item. If it's unauthorized paypal will refund the buyer if they know it's for virtual items, it's a double standard.

I'm pretty sure Chloe was on her home IP when she used PayPal to send the funds. You can't claim it was unauthorised if it was from your home IP.

My paypal is a "live.com" and my skype is a "live.co.uk"
No I didn't buy it from a website, it was through a skype chat, and the paypal is in my fathers name not mine so there is nothing linking my skype to my paypal, he can't provide any evidence that it was a virtual transaction.
