I like Norton as it's what I currently have now but it can get annoying when it blocks connections like for a private server.

Norton is better. McAffee is TERRIBLE. Don't even think about it.
I suggest that you use AVG or BitDefender (I've used the paid versions of both and they work like a charm).

Also, AVG has a good free anti-virus but i dont think it includes a firewall.

McAffee is horrible, do NOT use it.

Stick to Norton, there are ways to bypass your firewall if you do some research on it.

If I could only pick one of the two, I would go for McAfee, Norton is shit and fucks up and slows down your PC.

My personal recommendation is Kaspersky, that is always in the top 5 when it comes to reviews and is very, very good at defending your PC.

Both of them are completely useless and more similar to malware than anti-malware.

Honestly I'd recommend Microsoft Security Essentials (which is free) or ESET.

Ok both of them are terrible and Norton will give you a lot of false positives. I recommend that you remove Norton and use Avast or Avira.

I use Norton because I get it for free from my isp. I fuck around and download more shit than anyone I know and I've never had a problem. Norton DOES NOT fuck up your shit, idiots that don't know what they're doing fuck their own shit up. It DOES NOT slow down your pc unless you have a dinosaur pre-2005 junk pile, which isn't Nortons fault.. I've never had a problem with it blocking anything I was trying to do because I know how to configure my shit, just like anyone that considers themselves a competent computer user should. Most people that say one thing's terrible or some other thing's terrible, usually have no idea and are just basing their opinions of hearsay or their own stupidity.

You shouldn't pay for an antivirus though. AVG works perfectly fine and nothings better than an occasional scan with Malwarebytes. I had McAfee for like 6 months and never got it to work right. Never had a problem with Norton. When I install AV's on other people's computers I use AVG most of the time since it's free. Then again, I figure I have enough common sense to not even need an antivirus.

I used to use McAfee since my mom bought it but stopped since it slowed my computer start-up time way down.

I've used both in the past, and I'd have to say Norton is probably one of the best AV's out there..

None. get eset nod32 antivirus. i believe it is cheaper and adds little time to your boot time.

instead of norton, i use their corporate antivirus on another pc. symantec endpoint. same company but more features and no subscription (just license).

In a battle between norton or McAfee, I would go with Norton.
