    Nooby PC Build Questions

    Hello,

I am wanting to upgrade some parts in my PC. Here is a screenshot of my specs
[IMG] My screen is an AOC e2351F.

I'm looking to get some more room, so I was thinking something along the lines of this. I then think that a new GPU would be solid. Link to GPU 1 or Link to GPU 2 .

I'm not very good with PC parts, so this is all new to me. I also don't have the allotted time to figure it all out, so I'm looking for any and all help!

    Thanks!

Edit: I've also thought about selling my current PC (around 530$) and use that on starting from scratch and buying something around $1K USD. Would that be a better option?

What is your budget? Before you buy any other GPU's or storage I would personally suggest another 8gb of RAM

At the moment I don't really have a budget. I'd like to be more on the economical and sensible side of these purchases. I'm not really sure on what are good prices, etc.

I've also thought about selling current PC and buying new one for $1K USD.(See my edit in OP.)

    Get another set of matching ram, heres an 8gb module: G.SKILL Value 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C11S-8GNT-Newegg.com

Get the 1050 ti 4gb edition - it games just as well as the 470 and is the same price basically. Also no need to upgrade your current powersupply if you go with the 1050 ti. It takes only 300 watts max, and no connectors are needed.

The 470, on the other hand, requires an 8 pin power connector + 450 watts recommended PSU, and I'm guessing you are rocking that stock 460 watt psu from Dell. So I would highly advise against the 470.

Get an SSD for faster loading etc, atleast 120gb for your windows install and a couple of games.

I would get a RX-480 and a cheaper SSD (like a Sandisk SSD+ on sale) in my opinion.

Better hurry your ass up, the deals are disappearing by the day, getting replaced by higher than normal prices from Christmas buyers. I just bought everything for my new PC build. Cost me approx $1700 after everything was said and done. You could still build a pretty sick PC with $1,000, that's what I'd do.

Just curious, why would you tell him to get another 8gb of memory and not upgrade his gpu? 8gb is enough for most tasks but a GT 720 is hardly enough to run min settings on even some older games.

Yeah but he wants to upgrade it tho. He should get another 8 along with the 1050 or rx 470

    @BartonsVodka

Can you post a link to your actual PC? What's your current case and what GPU length can it accommodate? Is this a custom pc build you did, or something you bought? Want to do anything else, bluetooth (if it doesn't have it), interior lighting, or anything?

Do you plan on getting a new 1440p or 4k monitor? Ever plan on getting into VR? All of that will play into your GPU selection.

I don't really see a point in more than 8gbs of RAM. I run 8 w/o a problem and planned on expanding to 16 if I ever though I needed to (I haven't). Your CPU is also fine, don't imagine you're going to bottlenecking anything, but your GPU is a little behind.

If you want to do a whole new build though, you get the freedom to do everything you want and with $1k, you can do a lot (both my last two builds have been in $700-1100 margin and I've been very satisfied with them). You could also update to the newest 1151 chipset with the newest build.

Also, if you're expanding your memory, I'd go with a PNY 480GB for $100 rather than 250GB of the EVO. They're great and all, but the slight performance gain you get isn't worth nearly double the memory IMO.
