Why does everyone feel the government is out to get them?

This is directed toward US citizens of course.

Why does everyone think the government is trying to hide everything from them? From prescription drugs, to global warming, to 9/11, everyone always thinks the government is lying to them. What causes this distrust?

 

Some people just want to get attention, but sometimes it does seem the government is hiding stuff.

 

Because the government IS lying.
There's proof to back that up, like the JFK assassination.

 

Sometimes it DOES lie to us, yet plenty of times, people are uncomfortable with the knowledge that there is no deeper meaning to the world, so they try to create one.

 

They are trying to get us!!!! They tap our phone calls and monitor our internet activities. They are liars and they are bad at lieing they always get caught in the act. I think the government is prejudice too.

Well the "government" kills thousands of people for their own financial benefit, so yeah, we're going to be suspicious.

 

May I ask how this works?

 

Whenever they come supposedly some across alien species they purposely break off all the contacts with them and destroy all the evidence and pretend nothing is going on. Well really I'm not sure if there is really intelligent lifeforms outside Earth...

My view on the government is the united states has 1 of thee best in the world, but dont get me wrong there is plenty of flaws, every gov in the world trys to keep there citizens in fear. perfect example watch the news, what do u see destruction. there is always a threat of atk or impending disaster. it went from y2k, to west nile, sars, anthrax, terrorism, bird flu, to now global warming.( i dont understand why everyone thinks al gore is now a world class scientist, and believes anything that comes out of his mouth about global warming, is our x president now a expert on global weather pattern changes? lol sry bout that rant) but of course yur gov is gunna cover stuff up, some things are better off not known by the general public

 

Just use examples from history. In the 1930's who would have ever thought that Hitler was an evil man?

 

given the amount the of lying the US government has done in the past (almost from when it began really) I think people just assume its happening automatically. doesn't seem to matter whos in charge or what the situation is history has shown that there is a US president and government talking a crock and trying to make a buck.

Though I don't believe George Bush warrants the title of a non-evil man, making the comparison between him and Hitler is just idiotic.

9/11 allows people to give up their liberties with Patriot Act, people hate terrorists and... = War in Iraq

The war in Iraq pays war profiteers and oil companies so... = money for halliburton, exxon, etc.
